I no longer follow UFC/MMA like I used to. I still enjoy the sport, and I follow the champs, but I'm completely out of the loop regarding many up and coming contenders. I look at fight card results and many names I don't recognize at all. Used to be I knew something about everyone on the main card at least. I'm not bashing the sport or declaring it ruined by this or that...just wondering if anyone else has experienced the same thing.

No. Televising the prelims and having more frequent events have made me a bigger fan. I will have trouble watching all hte Wednesday night cards, but I try to watch as much as possible

once hardcore, always hardcore.

i've watched every prelim i coudl get my hands on for the last 6 years.

No I've been hooked for year and with all the attention it's finally getting its hard to stop. And they say MMA is dying.

TS misses the days when Keith Jardine was headlining cards and Sylvia and Arlovski were taking turns defending the belt.

I'm with you sherbra, My friends and I would order/watch every single PPV or televised event. Now not so much, I don't know most of 135 or 145 class, most of the cards now are not that stacked, at least for me. I remember watching the entire card now most of the time the last 2 fights are what i watch.

yeah, the sport has been ruined by all the boring wrestlers

like aldo, and pettis, and jones.

everyone's just a clone of each other!

TS describes my situation.

Just the other day (when Glover fought) I was like "there was a UFC?" I hadn't even noticed. I didn't even watch TUF this past week and that used to be my favorite show.

Now, I see threads on Conner MacGregor and I'm like "who the hell?"

I get you. I cant pin point what it was, but I feel out of the loop now. Theres just so many fights that its difficult to follow everything.

I became a casual, i remember i was so excited even for a facebook fight, staying up till morning so i could watch the main event, nowadays i mainly interested in the main card.

I would say I am a ModorateCore fan. I either watch or at least know about the results on all Bellator, Strikeforce, UFC cards. I have been to a couple lower shows Lou Neglia's ring of combat, whatever one they do at Caesars, AC. But I am not going to check the results of all these lower shows like jungle fights and whatever else they do.

Starting to get that way for me. The cards are getting too watered down for my taste.

I definitely don't get as excited for PPVs because there are generally only 1-3 big fights per card.

As others have said, the increase of events, coupled with the fact that it is becoming more mainstream (I use to have to sit at Bdubs alone for hours at a time, now I can usually get two or more friends ASKING to come) have made me an even bigger fan. I've watched the sport for about 6 years, I've loved it for 4, and the past year and a half have only increased that level of love.

I went from watching unleashed every chance i got, watching pre and post fight press conferences, seeing all prelim/fbook fights to barely watching the main card and some interviews here and there. Still love the sport just as much though

jones vs gus
barao vs wineland
khabib vs healy
carmont vs phillipou

if you think that's a watered down card, you need to jump off a fucking bridge.

It's not watered it's just not anything special. Jones vs Gus? The only people who actually want to see that are Jones fans so they can have another win they can take credit for when they defend Jones' honor on Sherdog.

TRT is the one thing putting me off just now. I'm still a hardcore fan, but I can see a day in the future where I get tired of a sport where one guy might be winning because he has had more injections and not because he has the better skillset/mentality/gameplan.
