Im Terrible at stringing a guitar but it throws everything out of tune. Any insider tips?

What style guitar do you have? Does it have a trem? Stop tail piece? etc. that matters.

You are aware there is an entire internet that has this information readily available through such underground methods as Google, and Youtube.

Youtube tutorials are under rated. You can learn a ton on there.

You learned how to play guitar but didn't bother to learn how to string one; which is 100 times easier?

The way to coil the string around the tuning machine is expained differently in all of tutorials ive seen

Get a winder. They're like $2 at any guitar store and make the process much, much faster.

I've been in performing bands and I've never been taught how to string one in any formal way. It's always seemed pretty straightforward, to be honest.

Get a string winder thats sits on the machinehead it makes it alot easier...

Also reccommend using fast fret, it helps the longevity of the strings

I tried doing it myself one time and nearly put a string through my hand. Just take it to a guitar shop they'll do it for like around $20.

Ive done it several times, just haven't really coiled it properly ever

Depends on the kind of tuners you have on your guitar I guess. On a Strat the string goes through, and then you coil the string down, and the string should be on the logo side.

To the people recommending you go to a shop: You're not going to have that option if your string breaks on a gig, and it's a basic skill every guitarist should have.

It's extremely easy to do. You may as well look at a tutorial on YT like a few here have already said, much easier to understand it that way instead of reading words, you can watch somebody literally show you how to do it.

Type your exact question on google, find the related youtube videos and you'll find a guy doing it all for your entertainment.

I can lock the string down, but getting those perfect 5 coils is perplexing. Im semi retarded

You have a strat, You will restring the guitar and need to tune each string over and over and over. Probably at least 5 times because the tremolo will keep putting the guitar out of tune until its adjusted right. After restringing a few times you will get the hang of it
