I work sportsmen one myself (fishing, hunting etc.) as an order picket not bad a job IMO wish it
paid a little more TBH.

I worked at BJ's Wholesale club as a teen. Madness would be the word to best describe the level of my behavior back then.

Almost anyone can do it. Unfortunately you really can't move to far up in this place.
Actually sounds like a cool place to work. I like outdoor stuff. But if you want to make more money, you have to separate yourself from the pack and bring something to the table. Why would they pay you more if anyone else can do it for the same or less?

Yea picking

Its ok have had worse jobs, first 2 months were hell

Money is ok though

Career advancement is zero though rxcept flr driving forklift

I work as a supervisor at a pharmacy warehouse. Sweet gig. Pays quite well and I have superb health coverage. I'm actually considering returning to school at age 45 so I can become a pharmacist, as crazy as that sounds

Considering I worked for UPS management over 22 years, this is a piece of cake. I'm much happier now that I can make a difference with the sick and elderly vs just moving cardboard around like rats in a dungeon

Should have stayed Union.

Should have stayed Union.

I was in management bud, no union for me. I worked in the guts of all my operations. Everywhere I went all over my state, the union stewards and upper level management worked together scratching each others backs behind closed doors and made deals that did nothing for part time workers. Essentially the union was using the workers as pawns.

They call for strikes and starve those that pay dues every month, saying they are out of money. Don't get me wrong though, some of the management I worked with are snakes from hell and the union was a necessary evil. Pay your dues and don't cross the picket lines and the union loves you. They will throw you to the wolves otherwise

Shit man, Amazon got you guys by the balls brother. I wish you luck during peak season. I don't miss being locked down from Black Friday until New Years.

My buddy still works there and he says it's been hell finding anyone to load cars in the mornings

Yeah Amazon is screwing my hub with Air and it's been hard finding Anyone for anything since Covid started.

I was a picker for a few years when I was in my early 20's. I would pick orders for restaurants and other food service places around the region. It was kind of hard work as a lot of the stuff was heavy and it was also a 2nd shift job, but the pay was decent and It had medical benefits, so I didn't mind it.

I heard Amazon raised their wages everywhere $3 higher

Yeah I would guess the union protection and certain offers of tuition reimbursement for school might be the only way UPS or FedEx can snag workers from Amazon these days. I can't imagine UPS or FedEx remaining competitive much longer if Amazon is giving their drivers 3 bucks more an hour

I’ll let it be known here and now. I can take any Warehouseman not worth his Dickies shorts and Converse shoes. Bring it. Meet me behind the gaylords. You fucking pickers ain’t worth shit. Brig it.

I've done warehouse jobs before (certified and surgical with both stand up and sit down forklifts). Its the most thankless, demoralizing work Ive ever done because "standing out through hard work" is tomorrows expectation when they know what you are capable of, and there is rarely any financial incentive for being better/faster than the floor average.
