I recently picked up a ZMA supplement on recommendation from a trainer. I have issues sleeping and he claims this stuff makes you soundly sleep and it works somewhat like a testosterone booster. Anyone here use it and have some insight on it?

Well I'm about to pop a few so i guess well see how this goes....

ZMA (supplement) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Taken it in the past. Felt nothing significant. Friend was taking it at the same time. Said it provided him deeper and more convalescent sleep. Much like all supplements, effectiveness depends upon the person, really.

you would get enough zma if you bought a decent mens multivitamin with tons of minerals

if you want to add another supplement to your budget buy it.

ZMA is cheap. My dad had some so I started taking it and yeah...much deeper sleep and more dreams for me.....weird dreams.

but zinc, magnesium, and vitamin b-6 is important for more than just deeper sleep.

but most mens multivitamins have 100 percent of zinc magnesium and b6 in them

I really dont see the need to megadose on those

I take zma+gaba and it definitely helps my sleep quality. There is a noticeable quality of sleep difference when I am using zma as opposed to not using it.

not enough zinc or magnesium in a typical multi. PLUS, most multis have calcium in them, which nullifies the effects. Multi in the morning / daytime, ZMA at night

just get magnesium, cheaper and it helps with sleep

Well after taking it last night It didn't seem to help me fall asleep, but I did seem like i had a "deeper" sleep then most nights. Guess I'll keep trying it out.

It helped on the first night, then I asked around and heard it was a placebo. Kept taking it for a week, slept like shit, so I think the first night was just the placebo affect. I still have some though, and I may be wrong. If so, someone tell me, so I can start taking it again :)

ZMA is amazing and so are the vivid bloody dreams

Yes. I feel great the next morning. Could be placebo, but who cares? I love it.

Here's my thought's on ZMA after a few days...

1. You do get weird/intense dreams while taking it

2. It seems to help me stay asleep.

3. You do feel a little drowsy after you take it, but not enough to make you sleep, more like the feeling after you get after a big meal

4. Seems like it does cause increased acne.

Well I'm gonna keep trying it out to see if it help me with my sleep issues. Insomnia sucks, so I'll try whatever people recommend to help me sleep better. So even if it is just a placebo, if it gives people some piece of mind then go for. Can't hurt to have the extra vitamins and It's one of the cheaper supplement I've used. I'll keep this updated after a week of being on it.

Ok after a few more weeks of testing it definitively makes you drowsy, but not enough to put you out. Liking it so far

As far as I know it's not supposed to help you fall asleep but achieve a deeper sleep.

I was skeptical at first and never tried it until about 8 weeks ago. I have seen better sleep and what I'll label as "stronger." I just feel more aggressive when rolling but that could be a placebo effect.

Keep in mind that everyone responds differently to supplements so your results will be different.

I do believe I am building up a tolerance however. I am not sleeping as soundly for as long as I initially was. Based on these reults though, I will continue to take it.

Take an epsom salt bath; I always sleep better after one

First week I slept amazingly well and far deeper than normal. So much so my car was broken into outside my house on night 3 and I slept straight through the alarm till the next morning! After a week the effects were far less noticable and my body had started to develop a tolerance.
