I see he was suppose to fight in June in Russia, but the event got cancelled. Anyone think he ever ends up in Bellator (like he was once signed) or will the manslaughter charge prevent him from ever coming over. Also is he even capable of getting a Visa?

Well he signed a deal with RFA a while back but I'm not sure that's ever going to happen. They apparently weren't too worried about getting him a visa though.

Thanks, I missed reading about that signing.

I don't think that the US is in any hurry to allow trained Russian fighters who accidentally kill people in street fights in to the country, and I doubt that any top promotion wants to have the press that would accompany their signing him. Regardless of the circumstances of the incident, that one punch, or more specifically the force of the fall, was the funeral toll for his career.

100% percent agree. It's sad but the fact that Frodo Khasbulaev can't get into the country without any criminal record pretty much guarantees that Mirzaev will not be coming to the US anytime soon. Not too many work visas being giving out to Russian Muslims at the moment I would guess :(

I figured this is the case but it sounds like RFA were willing at one point. Was he one of the favorites in the Bellator tournament before getting booted for the manslaughter? I'm just curious how good many thought he could have been in this sport.

If I recall, he was being looked at as one of the biggest threats to Pat Currans title in those days.
