I don't know much about this religion but I could see some of the basic tenets appealing to Sherdoggers.

It is the belief of the members of the Congregation that upheaval of the morals and inferiority of human values have been the results of a departure of mankind from the ideals expressed by Universal Wisdom. This, we believe, has resulted in a sick and decaying society whose redemption can only be brought about by a blending of Universal Intelligence with man’s innate mind. This blending must be initiated by correction of all interference of the brain and central nervous system by forces physical or otherwise that would prevent a free flow of life to all human parts.

Laying on of hands to the vertebrae shall be the sole means of maintaining the LIFE FORCE through Universal Wisdom

I came across the organization recently when reading about an anti-vaxxer actor - Rockmond Dunbar - losing his court case against Disney. (also - what sort of name is "Rockmond"?).

Curious whether any of you have first hand experience with the religion.

btw - I do not mean to be impolite asking about personal religious beliefs. I am just asking those who are interested in sharing!

Rational Wiki has the (negative) lowdown. Key quote:
There are no real chapels and no requirement for members to meet. Prospective ministers need only to submit a dissertation that is examined by five other ministers. An essay cited by the United States National Institutes of Health calls the organization a "sham religion" used by thousands of parents to avoid getting their children vaccinated.
I'm pretty religiously open-minded, but it's hard to regard them as other than an "opt-out" front.

Edit: Sorry, the above link is unstable. Rational Wiki has had technical problems for the past year or so.

The following is from regular Wikipedia:
The Congregation of Universal Wisdom, an American religious movement based on belief in chiropractic spinal adjustments and Universal Intelligence, forbids vaccinations, surgery, medicine, and any intrusive treatment as sacrilege...The New York Times covered the Congregation of Universal Wisdom and noted that many families have used these religious memberships to avoid vaccination requirements and that joining only required writing a letter and paying $1; renouncing other religious is not required.
Again, just an opt-out front.

It shall be sacrilege to depart from the precepts of the Congregation by the following:

  1. The ingestion of medication or other chemical substances that defy natural law.
  2. The injection into the body of medication or other matter of substances that defy natural law.
  3. The application of medication, chemicals or other foreign matter or substances unharmonious to the laws of nature.
  4. The inhalation of medication, chemicals or other foreign substances in disharmony with the laws of nature.

"Additionally, after a battle over medical records and egregious withholding of evidence, it turned out that the now 52-year-old Dunbar, like many actors in Hollywood, was not so secretly receiving testosterone injections eight times a month. He was also getting other needle delivered drugs to offset the effects, like breast growth, of the testosterone."
