For practice, it's a pain to hand wrap, yet a necessity. Is there any modern solution to this PITA? I'd like to see fingerless padded elastic gloves similar to muaythai anklets.

Yes there are plenty of alternatives out there but none are as good for protecting the small tiny bones you wouldn't realize you are damaging by neglecting handwrapping. Even those alternatives you seek...pros take them and then handwrap OVER TOP of them :) Handwrapping works for a reason...it doesn't take long to learn. However...if boxing is a hobby to the point of not wanting to be able to hand wrap...then likely your training isn't serious enough to do any damage to your hands anyway...and thats not an insult. Some guys don't wrap their hands in my gym but they also don't take the sport seriously and are using it for more of an aerobic workout than anything.

I was asking if there is an alternative. There are innovations born every day. If there is one, why not ? That's me showing how to hand wrap :icon_chee

Forget handwrapping, I'm more interested in your motorsports videos! :D

There are alternatives, it's just that none of them are anywhere near as good at doing the job a hand wrap is meant for. As mixedmajik said, most people who use these use them in addition to traditional wraps for added protection, not as their only wrapping.

Here's what Title MMA has, if you want to look.

I've only found rolling up your hand wraps is the most obnoxious thing about them, but they serve a purpose and isn't hard to do.

A properly wrapped hand feels almost indestructible. Until you really break something. :icon_cry2

I agree with all above. I used to be the lazy guy who wore the glove wraps because I didnt feel like wrapping properly. Never again. A nice hand injury later and I am back to traditional wraps.

I always wrap my hands- except when I don't. Some times I will do a round bare handed on the soft bag at my gym. Its a good way to check your form and wrist strength. BTW not all pros wrap there hands. Off the top of my head Frank Mir did not start wraping his hands during training until fairly recently. I know what you're thinkin "he is not an elite striker". But get this cat, Bas Ruten famousley claimed to not wrap his hands as well. And while I feel you are more at risk w/o a wrap, there are plenty of cats with broken/ damaged paws even with wraps. But like everything else everyone is different. Not all hands are created equal.

Interesting. Thanks. I'll heed your view on them. BTW, when you use them with traditional hand wraps, do you wear them under, or over the normal wraps?

If you've been hitting bags with wrapped hands long enough, there would be no reason to test your wrist strength.

Don't know what your talking about . The reason I do a round bare handed besides for reasons previously stated is It feels like I'm using my tendons/ wrists muscles more to stabilise than when I'm relying on my wrap and glove for saftey and support. Other fellas with slender wrists might understand. Ultimately, It's an exercise I find rewarding.
