Antony Blinken changed the State Department's official font from Times New Roman to Calibri. You'll be relieved to learn that Rubio has now changed the default font back to Times New Roman after learning that Calibri is a DEI font.

"To restore decorum and professionalism to the Department’s written work products and abolish yet another wasteful DEIA program, the Department is returning to Times New Roman as its standard typeface,"

And why is Calibri a DEI font? Apparently because it's easier for people with disabilities to read.

The switch to Calibri happened in early January 2023 under then-Secretary of State Antony Blinken. It was driven by accessibility and modernity goals as part of DEIA efforts.
This change came amid expanded DEIA programs following the 2020 racial justice protests (e.g., after police killings of unarmed Black individuals), aiming to make federal communications more inclusive.

There's already a font for people with disabilities to read.

Could someone explain why a handicap would cause one font to be more easily read than the other?

Calibri is easier to read on a screen. Times New Roman is more of a print friendly font. Seeing as 99% of the stuff you read at work is on a screen it makes sense to have calibri as the standard font.

One of the best things about screens is everyone can control the font size, and even the font type itself.... Individually.

There's no need to make an official change to apply to everyone.

Edit - Would like to add, for those who prefer Calibri, apparently to Biden Administration officials... you're handicap.

It's logical to use the font that's the easiest for everyone to read as the standard and then if someone wants to change then they can.

But that's not what they said.
They said its easier for people with handicaps to read Calibri.

Look at who the President was from Jan 2021 to Jan 2025.

It's easier for everyone to read calibri. It's one of those situations where you can make things slightly easier for people with a disability at absolutely no cost to anyone else.

According to ChatGPT... Apparently it's true.

Great, that clears that up.
And Biden is no longer in the White House, so there's no reason not to go back to Times New Roman.

As for those who are dyslexic, have ADHD, or other processing difficulties... they shouldn't be working in the government.

Why shouldn't they be working in government?

Your posting in this thread is incredible lol.

Pete Hegseth runs the Pentagon dude and there are lawyers installed as prosecutors by this administration who appear to barely be able to read. You’re an idiot🤣

They can change the font and size on their personal devices.

Problem solved.
