Never owned an Xbox but I'd knew I'd get to play Halo, which i LOVE, then Gears of War, which i LOVE, because im a PC guy. Ill get my chance.

I did. Got to play both cuz they made PC versions. Went to college and got to play the 2nd GOW cuz roommate is an Xbox boy.

Well.....Gears of War is now on Playstation. What's next, God of War on xbox????

This time though, its a REMASTER.

Now, its been a LONG time since ive played Gears cuz the game detected windows was pirated, despite me actually owning the CD-ROM. Now.....I get to play it again...

Gears of War...a masterpiece ...
Thats remastered...
And it costs $40 for just the 1st game...
(Halo master chiefs box came with all of them)

Well, I was out on surgery, bought it, and yep.......same old shit.

Dom is a fucking idiot, teammates are shooting walls, teleporting in out of no where, NPCs and weapons are floating. Guys, I didnt notice this before and these are BUGS.

Still looks good, but that type of shit isn't going leaps and bounds these days.

Im telling you, im enjoying my financial sucker punch cuz ive not played in so long, otherwise:

NEVER BUY REMASTERS.

REMAKES, theyre good.

Remasters are a cash infusion during a extended game release hiatus. Remakes serve the same purpose but adhere to the studios current day game design philosophy.

Only difference really is that the game studio had such high employee turnover since the original release. The remake is primarily used as a training tool that their loyal customers pay for.

Whatever the reason ill 'buy" it for a remake.

The only remasters ive accepted were starcraft and halo 2.

What's AWESOME about playing the Halo 2 remaster is if you press...f2(?) it shows you what it was originally. Proof what changed and an example that you improve what you can, technically, but KEEP what works.

Days gone
Gears

These remasters have bugs more than before and how the fuck does that happen?

PLUS, every game i buy, whether at the store or network....it needs an update. You mean....a PATCH? "NOPE an upgrade. We didnt fix your rocket powered deers or Dom suddenly appearing."

You ever play the Halo 1 remaster? You can do the same thing as the Halo 2 one, switch between original and new graphics.

Yeah, in the Halo Collection, you can hit a button and it shows what the graphics were originally, though I honestly don't remember them being that bad.

I like the idea of ground up remasters, but there needs to be a lot of upside to them. You can make a case for the Resident Evils and the Yakuza Kiwamis, but some games, which still hold up, just get a little touch up and that's it.

I'd like to see a remake of Panzer Dragoon Saga, a beautiful Sega Saturn RPG that was lost due to it being released on a dying console, and which has a lost source code.

Not for the time, but they have aged pretty horribly. The enemies and weapons all still look fine enough, but those environments are ROUGH, and look like a slightly more smoothed out N64 game.

As for this one, I always thought it was dumb to put so much emphasis on remastering the original, which was a good enough launching pad for the franchise, but probably the most forgettable of the original bunch, minus "Judgement". The price is also ridiculous. They should've remastered the entire trilogy, and sold it for $60. $40 for a new paint job of a five hour campaign and some multiplayer nostalgia that will all but be abandoned after a short while, is absurd.

To be honest on Xbox and PC this is likely a cash grab. But first time of PlayStation players to play the game.

Story behind Days Gone development path from Playstation 4 exclusive to Pc port to Remastered releases is a interesting story. With Gears i have no idea.

Gears Of War 1 is a very polished and influential game, but I see zero reason why anyone would play it more than twice. Especially in 2025.

It's not an immersive sim with endless replayability like Deus Ex. It's just a cover shooter with some cool presentation. Why would you need to play that again?

Well, it is a classic. There are far more forgettable games that get this treatment, like "XIII" for instance. It was also a multiplayer juggernaut, so I could see the drive to get in on that and hope it catches on again. Then you have some analytics people thinking that Playstation folks haven't ever experienced it, because they think console wars are still a big thing.

Classic and replayable dont always go hand in hand. Also I can't imagine there are a very high number of Playstation Die-hards who haven't played gears 1 ever before, considering it's also been on PC 10 years as the ultimate edition.

The multiplayer was a juggernaut. Emphasis on was in the past tense, it is now currently the Gears game with the lowest weapons selection and all of the without all the QOL gameplay improvements that they added in the sequels including the cover-vault-kick, universal melee, weapon executions, chainsaw duels etc.

I'm old enough to remember that the meta of GOW1 multiplayer was just spamming the roll for invincibility to close the gap for a shotgun kill. I can't see that being a particularly big draw for new players.

Not disagreeing with you, just musing about the possible thought process behind it. GOW isn't dead, but it doesn't hold the same sway as it once did. Like I said earlier, if they were gonna do this, they should've gone all out with the entire trilogy, and released it at a tidy $60. That might get people's attention a bit more than just the original game that is really no more than a short nostalgia trip, at a not so friendly price. I also think they're about two generations late for anybody to really give a shit about being able to play it on a Playstation.

The GameCube remake of RE1 is the benchmark to me although I would not say no to a RE1 remake like they did to 2 and 3

I played it on Gamer Pass. It aint worth paying $40 to have if you already played through the original, but it was fun for me to play it again with sweeter graphics and speed.

But if they are never gonna give 2 and 3 this treatment, that would be a fuckin travesty.

Why the fuckin thing wont let you play against bots on the multiplayer when the original did, fuck if I know, but that's STUPID

Botlife breh

$40 and no bots? THE FUCK
