Ank Really Thought He Could Trade With Alex

Did he?

I think that's just his style. Most of his fights play out on the feet, and he's got some useful and effective tools despite being way too conservative last night.

Pereira took his teeps out the game with his immediate forward pressure and distance management, and I think that immediately threw Ank off his game. Not many people close the distance on him like that when he's also got a wrestling game in his back pocket.
He did look very confused as soon as Alex charged him. He's was like, this is not what I prepared, what do I do?

He was too conservative...? Like he had a choice...

Well I'm assuming if they have a trilogy fight that Ankalaev will know he can't just let Pereira walk through him.

Next time he's at least going to have to pretend to fight for the centre of the cage, whereas last night he just ceded it without a fight.

Theres absolutely nothing he could do to change that outcome. He doesnt have the skill set.

He got run through.

Poatan was on the hunt from the start.

Ank tried hiding in the bushes after taking some heat -- but there were no bushes, just a hunter riding him in beatdown mode.

And Herb patiently waiting for Ank to show any interest in fighting...
