I was at the local Barnes and Nobles reading this book. its kind of old but a good encyclopedia of basic drills that are seen at many school. I didn't want to buy it at retail price so I though I would look on amazon.com for a slightly discounted price. I was shocked to find the $154 price tag for a used copy

If you look on ebay, the book ranges from $50-$200 depending on the buyer you look at

what's up with this? Is the book out of print?

Bought mine brand new on Amazon about a year ago for like $26.

I guess it went out of print. All of the Victory Belt books seem to skyrocket pricewise in the used market right after they go out of print.

The book is decent but not worth nearly $150.

Victory Belt books and BJJ/martial arts books in general tend to jump to crazy prices when they go out of print. I wouldn't put too much stock in the prices you see used copies for on Amazon. My collection is supposedly worth $1000's now and it's just stuff I picked up at B&N or Amazon over the years.

It's the same way with Marcelo's Advanced Techniques of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu book. Amazon was asking like $150 so I bought it in store at Barnes and Noble for $25.

It's a common hustle. Book dealers sit on out of print books with high price tags hoping that someone bites.

BJJ books seem like they go out of print very quickly. Probably 90% of my grappling library of books is now out of print. I will say that Galvao's book is pretty well worth checking out, but that price is ridiculous all the same.

One reason books on Amazon can reach insane prices is automatic pricing algorithms. Some of the sellers use them to price their book at a little more than a competitors. So if one or more other sellers use the same system, it very quickly rises to unrealistic levels. Some books have reached massive prices:

i just wanted to buy it and when i saw price range on amazon 100$-200$ and cant find anywhere to just download it then i saw this post ,
still the problem is how to get the book can u help guys :D

I just bought it at Barnes & Noble for $40 as a Christmas gift for someone.

Used book prices on Amazon are commonly ludicrous for some reason ... I wouldn't take them as reality.
