Rewarched Rogue 1 and you're right, the mood isn't right following the superlative Andor series.

Music too spritely, and star warszy!

Felicity for her efforts is all wrong.

Andor is easily my favourite out of all the star wars productions including episodes 4-6.
A lot of people had issues with Felicity but I actually thought she was great. It was just the writing in general that got me. So much more focus on "the force" it was cringe. It felt like somebody went into the writers room and said we need to use bring up jedi's or the force a minimum of 40 times even if it serves very little to no purpose. Plus all the other scenes that were there just to say "Hey remember this!".

She's ok, just there are some characters that you look at and just their body language is bad ass..like when Bix walks out with Andor having killed Dr Gorst. Felicity just doesn't have that vibe....and Andor deserved a better match....

I'm re-reading my Rogue One review and I didn't like Felicity Jones and Diego Luna at that time. Through the Andor series, I've grown to like Diego as Cassian.

I also complained about Orson Krennic being underwhelming in the movie and I'm glad the series elevated him into a great antagonist.

Anybody else disappointed Mon Mothma had to dress down and had that mop hair at the end? I know they're just trying to establish continuity from the movies but part of me wished they kept her look from the series till the very end.

You'd think she'd graduate to some slutty outfit after her dancing scene.

I guess I need to rewatch R1 now, seeing as I didn’t realize this went directly into it. I at least hoped for one more season of Andor or at least a movie like Mando

I think it's safe to assume that most here will agree that the Andor series is the best Star Wars content since the original trilogy.

This might seem blasphemous but...

Is Andor even better than the original trilogy?
Is Andor a better written show than the original trilogy?

For the people that voted 8 or higher in the poll, is the Andor series the best Star Wars live-action content ever written, even surpassing the original movie trilogy?

It's not surpassing the original but it can hold its head up high next to any of the other creations in the star wars universe. It's certainly better than the vast majority of them. In fact I can't think of what other is as good. Andor might just be the second best thing in the cinematic star wars universe. It's almost a miracle considering the abysmal horseshit they've been making.

Trick question because this is like comparing boxing greats from different eras. In absolute terms, Andor is better written, better acted and just plain BETTER than the OT and anyone who says otherwise can fight me IRL.

But in relative terms and especially if you're a kid of the 80's, NOTHING tops OG Star Wars. It created a galaxy, an entire genre of space soap operas and the toys re-defined how kids do playtime. Also the "I am your father" reveal was legendary and shits all over even the tears in rain scene from Blade Runner.

To be fair, I'm not the biggest Star Wars fan out there. Don't mind watching some of it if it seems worth watching.

Anyhow, I'd say it follows the original trilogy. Andor probably has better writing and acting, but the original Star Wars trilogy kicked all this off and just has that pizzazz and charm that's hard to find anymore in entertainment.

I really enjoyed the first couple seasons of The Mandalorian but would put it behind Andor. For what it's worth, the Solo movie was pretty fun and would be in my top five.

The prequel trilogy was alright but boring with some bad acting.
The Disney trilogy is mostly garbage.
Thought Rogue One was pretty boring, actually fell asleep in the theater.
Book of Boba Fett was crap, didn't watch it all.
Obi Wan was so-so but picked up towards the end.
Ahsoka lost me with the cheap looking sets and bad acting, didn't finish it. Ray Stevenson was the best part about the show.
Didn't watch Acolyte.
Skeleton Crew was a lot of fun.

This basically sums it up perfectly

Hard to say. Possibly, yes. It's hard to say for sure as the OG trilogy has brilliance and great writing/talent behind its simplicity

I would not go that far as to say that it surpasses the OT. But it's right at the top in regards to all other live action Star Wars content. The only ones that are close are Mandelorian first season, Rogue One, and Episode III. The Mandelorian is not as well written or acted, but it's high quality and kicked off the new era of live action Star Wars content. Without its success we may not have gotten Andor.

It's a different kind of story and requires the viewer to pay attention to the nuances. It enhances Rogue One and the original trilogy. The OT's appeal is it's a fun action adventure story and it gives you just enough to excite your imagination and want more.

I would not say that, if for no other reason that the Original Trilogy has a universality that Andor, due to its subject matter, simply cannot have.

You cannot show Andor to a small child. Or rather shouldn’t.

I understand that but I am asking for your personal opinion if you think Andor is better than the original trilogy.

I like your analogy. It's similar to comparing Wilt Chamberlain to Michael Jordan or Kobe or Lebron. Or similar to any sports actually comparing past legends to modern athletes.

Andor is relatively a recent show and it might take some time for some Andor fans to be more comfortable enough in ranking it higher than the original trilogy. Andor's reputation will grow as time passes by and will gain new fans and I think this debate will eventually turn in favor of Andor.

It doesn’t surpass them as a whole. It does some things better of course, but the original trilogy earned its place in history for a reason.

Probably the best thing that’s come out since though.
