Finished it this weekend and damn was it amazing. The overall ending was a bit underwhelming is the only thing I can say but loved it. I started watching Rogue One right after. I completely forgot that Cassian was in Rogue One. I remember every single person from that movie except Cassian. Which is strange because I loved Rogue One I thought it was great. Haven't finished it yet but I can already tell it's a downgrade from Andor but still good.

I get Vader and the Inquisitors hunted them down, but there's only like 5 of those guys. Hunting down 57.2 billion jedi would have taken them longer than for the earth to mathematically populate with enough people for Frank Dux to go through a 60-round, single elimination kumite bracket.

I did not realize that was a non joke number, 52 billion is a ridiculous amount of jedi even for pre purge levels.

There's an entire galaxy under imperial rule, it's not just that handful of people and even with them there's a galaxy wide intelligence apparatus at work with a shitzillion people without which they wouldn't be able to locate them to begin with. The vast, overwhelming majority of the jedi were killed by imperial troops in the initial purge and there's two decades between ROTS and ANH.

I did not realize that was a non joke number, 52 billion is a ridiculous amount of jedi even for pre purge levels.

It's a joke, the actual number is around ten thousand.

Was actually only half joking on the number. OK I pulled 57.2 billion outta my ass but the real number has to be fucking huge considering all the lost jedi and random force user offshoots since ROTS.

FFS Jar Jar Binks literally saved baby Yoda from the Jedi temple. If that goofy ass MFer can survive Order 66 anyone can.

In Andor, Krennic was a bit over the top trying to steal scenes. I didn't remember him like that in Rogue One.

She definitely lacked charisma.

I noticed right away how much of a joke stormtroopers were, it was glaring after watching Andor, which was my only new issue with Rogue One. I thought Jyn was able to merk them too easily with her batons, but at least they were metal; Chirrut and the ewoks in ROTJ were taking them out with wood sticks.

Bruh. Jyn Erso was Saw Gerrera's best fighter and used batons because she was having an off day. And all those cans at least had weapons.

Tala's pimp hand > wood sticks:

And Brasso was the Kazuyuki Fujita of Ferrix honor guards:

In R1, he rubs up against people who outrank him (Tarkin and Vader), and he looks like a little bitch. When he's with people he has power over, (like Erso, or the rest of the Death Star engineers) he's constantly waving his dick around and trying to establish dominance. In Andor, he's almost exclusively on screen with people lower on the totem pole than him. Simple as.

Yea I just got done watching Rogue One this morning and noticed this as well. Also noticed how bad Rogue One is now after Andor. I used to love Rogue One now I think it's an ok movie.

Wish they would give the Andor creator more work in Star Wars let him do the next trilogy.

This.

Krennic's title in R1 is "Director of Advanced Weapons Research," but his Navy rank is Fleet Admiral. IRL equivalent to 5-star admiral which hasn't been in use since the end of WWII. So he's a big swinging dick, eight officer ranks above lowly 0-3 Lt. Dedra, and he delivered the ass-chewing she deserved for her fuck up.

Dedra not being promoted over 5 years despite all the heavy lifting for the Empire (and promised recognition by Partagaz right before the Ghorman massacre) was interesting. Clearly Ferrix, not finding Axis and the aftermath of Ghorman weren't seen as ringing successes despite her being hailed as a "star on the rise" in 5 BBY.

It is notable that being a junior officer, she got over with only a jail sentence instead of being summoned by Lord Vader to answer for her fuck ups. Her boss Partagaz got that honor - and he understandably chose hara kiri over being force choked into the living death.

Yeah Im rewatching R1 as well and it feels like one of the sequels compared to Andor, I remembered it being much better tbh

Yea I finished it this morning and it's kind of shocking how much of a downgrade R1 is to me now. I was surprised how annoying the focus on "The Force" is in R1. In Andor I don't even remember them bringing up Jedis or the force and I never thought I would care but I did.

I know Tony Gilroy is done and wants to move on but man would I love to see what more he could with this franchise.

My opinion is the exact opposite honestly. I wasn't a huge fan of R1 when it first came out, but I like it a lot better after Andor. The additional context makes Cassian's character arc a lot better imo, and it makes a lot of the minor characters (Mon, Saw, K2, etc) more interesting.

On a related note, Andor and R1 both make ANH better imo. Luke being "the single thing that broke the siege" is a better story than him being the lone hero who walzed in and saved the day I think. Honestly, I think I might like ANH better than Empire now.

EDIT: as much as my opinion of R1 improved after Andor, I still think CGI Tarkin and Leia were atrocities. Just recast parts ffs. Don't give us this video game looking shit.

I think at the time I was just so desperate for more Star Wars stuff that R1 was amazing to me. After watching Andor though you can really see the flaws just in the writing. I do agree with you about the overall lore being improved a lot by Andor/R1.

Was K2-SO destroyed in Rogue One? If not, I wouldn't mind a K2-SO spin off.

I took my sweet time finishing the series to savor it. Finally finished it and episodes 7 to 12 delivered big time. This show is soooo good. Going to miss it.

I'm planning on rewatching Rogue One this week but I already know I will be disappointed with it because it won't share the same tone, mood, pacing and sensibilities of Andor. If I recall Rogue One had a more zippy action adventure feel to it with matching swashbuckling-type of music.

I wish Disney would allow Tony Gilroy to re-edit Rogue One and make everything (tone, pacing, etc.) similar to the Andor series and with the Andor theme and score. That would be a perfect conclusion to the Andor saga.

This series is so fucking good it's almost a miracle it came out of the same place that made such horrendous dogshit like the acolyte.

Saw a recent article point out Rebels episode titled Secret Cargo is related to Andor's escape of Mothma.

Rewarched Rogue 1 and you're right, the mood isn't right following the superlative Andor series.

Music too spritely, and star warszy!

Felicity for her efforts is all wrong.

Andor is easily my favourite out of all the star wars productions including episodes 4-6.
