Look, this dude was never a world beater, but I think wins over Shamrock, Tank, James Thomson and Houston Alexander are respectable, considering he got in the game very late, and had minimal experience in MMA. His only real "losses" were to tough veterans like Roy and Mitrione (and ok, yea Seth).
He looked like shit vs. Dada but hell, even that was entertaining.

Kimbo was the American Dream personified. He worked his ass off and provided for his family. He came from humble beginnings. He wasn't the best, but he used his persona to make a lot of money for himself and his family. I was sad to hear of his passing. RIP, Kimbo !

It’s hard to count that shamrock fight. Ken threw that fight without a doubt. As he did a few times in his later career.

I just want to point out that his win or the stoppage over James Thompson was more than questionable.

They needed Kimbo to win within the 3 rounds to be able to sell him and him not stopping James Thompson, who was known for his glass chin, would have been a small disaster.

Mitrione was way greener than Kimbo
He went to TUF with something like 4 months f training and no pro fights

Youre not wrong, but he was in his athletic prime, and was...well...an athlete. Much younger, and way more explosive.

For a guy to basically come into professional MMA, right from the streets, was pretty impressive. Heck, the whole ELITE XC organization was built around Kimbo. They folded the day after he lost his first MMA fight! It was really cool watching his rise from backyard brawls to the UFC. They should do a movie on his life, I bet it would be interesting.

Backyard boxing he looked ok enough, but he was low-end mediocre at best in MMA.

You lost me at Mitrione being a “tough veteran”. He was less experienced than Kimbo as his record was 1-0. What a noob.

By the time he got into mma, his knees were shot as well.

Haha, better than Ngannou? Uh, negative… Big Frank would’ve knocked Kimbo’s head clean off. He was …top 20, at best. Hand speed and mobility were bad, even for a HW. No cardio…Fish out of water on the ground, too.
