Kinda funny a jewish girl will easily outshine every other American wrestler when it comes to international career.

She already has 8 world titles, 2 as a senior without age limit. The youngest olympic gold also.

She has 3 more olympic cycles and a tons of world championships to compete. And now she has mom strength.

Yeah, the is the discussion over female wrestling not being as competitive, but once she has 3 olympic golds there will be no denial.

Why is 'jewish girl' being thrown around like an insult? I am not Jewish, but it is childish to insult anyone this way. She seems like a decent person and obviously, is an incredible wrestler. Many young wrestlers don't make it to three olympic cycles, though.

I'm a big fan of her coach, Valentin Kalika. Great guy, huge understanging of the game.
As for Amit, I like her style. I think the limiting factors of her wrestling career - aside from the usual wear and tear - may be an early switch to BJJ or potentially MMA, and whether she stays clean. Her boyfriend (and father of her child) Mica Galvao was already caught using various PEDs. Not sure what her coach had to say about that.

The silly stereotype that girls and jews are not the most athletic prone people. Israel is very strong in Judo but rather weak in wrestling, I hope Amit can change that even if competing for the US, she has israeli citizenship and speaks hebrew.

I remember her saying she has no interest in mma, although she has the perfect base for it with high level bjj and godlike wrestling. I wouldnt worry about peds, she most be tested like crazy to even think about it.

It's a question of style more than anything else. I wouldn't say hers is particularly well-suited for MMA. Plus I honestly don't know how good her BJJ is - she has a purple belt, but that doesn't say much. If I were to name US team members crossing over to MMA and doing well, my money would be on Helen Maroulis and Victoria Anthony.

The same goes for every international competitor. However, if her BF is still using, she'll definitely be under special scrutiny.

Don't women and men dope different? If Mica got caught doesn't mean she will get caught the same way.
Her coach wasn't Micas coach so it wasn't responsibility that Mica passes the tests.

Depends. If he was on something, the suspicion is that she knew about it and said nothing, which is problematic in and by itself. But it seems he successfully distanced himself from the situation.

I meant what he had to say about her boyfriend being caught for PED use. That's usually not the kind of spotlight you want on your athletes.

Wtf would she snitch on her boyfriend for PED use? Nobody wants to train with or coach snitches.

PEDs are a morally very complicated subject in pro sports. The cases I know of, when one partner got busted, the other usually seems to have broken up with them, acting all upset. A training partner of mine was friends with two Olympic medalists where that happened, and he was later told by her that of course she knew what the stuff in the fridge was. Not sure how much her management influenced the decision, but my guess is they did.

Thread turned sideways early. Thanks, Sherdog

PEDs are standard in sports. I trained with one olympic medalist and he was the kind of guy who would be more proud of himself to win by cheating then honestly.

Only upset at them for getting caught and leaving them because they stopped earning money.
