“It happened. I thought I fought well in the first round and took it in the second, but it’s a fight. I think she found the right timing, and she deserved it. I’ll be back [to the gym] on Monday and get better on what I have to get better at. Let’s go.” Ribas said in a video statement provided to MMA Fighting.

“I can stay in the room and cry, or go out and enjoy the sun in Abu Dhabi,” she added. “What do you think I’m going to do? [laughs] Let’s go.”

Ribas’ father and coach Marcelo Ribas also provided a statement to MMA Fighting regarding the loss.

“No excuses, and congratulate our opponent that landed a very efficient strike that left Amanda knocked out on her feet and won the fight,” he wrote. “We prepared for Carla Esparza for months, and then Michelle [Waterson] and then Marina. We did everything right and professional, and the strategy worked well in the first round, which we won, and we were going to follow the same strategy in the other rounds. However, unfortunately, she landed a strike early in round two that nullified Amanda. That’s the sport.

“Amanda has no scratch and is ready for the next one already,” he finished. “We’ll go back to our hometown now and train hard because we’ll ask for a fight in April in Las Vegas or May in Abu Dhabi.”

leaving disappointed. the story didn't even contain a single instance of her squealing like she does in literally every other video interview.

Her weakness is obviously striking, she got knocked out by Viana too. Always sucks when this happens, but I think she'll recover from this.

This compilation actually helps me like her a little more. Genuine and uncontrolled happy laughter.

She could enter that small group of WMMA fighters that are worth watching.

Plus the post fight words were the right words coming off a loss. Confidence after a dose of reality had been swallowed.

This is what I like to hear. No excuses, no crying, enjoying that Abu Dhabi weather.

In this case, and many, yes. But I wouldn't say that it is de facto a good thing. Case-by-case.
Right, for all the Ribas', Khabibs, and Wonderboys, let us not forget Sage Northcutt haha

Ribas is awesome -- she has a great head on her shoulders and a good sense of humor. I feel she will rebound well from this loss.

I thought she was doing pretty well until the knockdown.

Considering that she basically got knocked out twice, better to take some more time off to let her brain recover instead of "going back to the gym on Monday."

I enjoyed seeing her lose, all the hype and worship she was receiving was getting pretty outta control and I find her interviews very cringeworthy, to each his own I guess.
