Give credit where it's due. We have never seen Yan being backed up like that. Although Sterling kept trying going for takedowns he couldn't get done and gassed himself out because of Serra fatass misunderstanding of what is pacing his athletes, Aljo did have success in the standup and and was only getting caught a little more when he was exhausted and sloppy.

Great gameplan, got into Yan's head pre-fight and during fight night and won via dq. Most fighters dream of a moment like that, don't really gotta bust your balls for winning a title.

You're gonna get shit for it but you're not wrong.

IIRC Aljo landed way more than Yan.
Were his strikes as impactful? No.
Did they come in greater numbers? Yes.

He outstruck him for the first 3 mi utes.

After than yan dominated and controlled the fight everywhere

Sterling is a joke of a champ - he will not defend the belt one time .

LOL at outstriking. He was throwing pitter patter shots that wouldn't even hurt my grandmother.Yan's shots were more impactful.

First round he did well. After that, he was getting pot-shotted.

Maybe but even if Aljo want tiring himself out going for all those takedown attempts, I feel Yan was going to accumulate punishment. Aljo wasn't really landing anything damaging and Yan was hurting Aljo. Eventually Aljo just didn't know what to do besides spam takedown attempts.

Sterling got dropped numerous times and taken down 7 times ....he was dominated

He was doing well early on contrary to what many people are saying. Won 90% of the first round outside of the flash knockdown and the slam. Just depends if you score the 2 bigger moments over the rest of the round, there’s a case to be made both ways imo. From what I saw most gave him the second round. Yan was taking over from the third on though.

I always felt Yan could have got the finish with his hands, he didn’t let them go like his corner was calling for

Most of his strikes were landed on Yan's guard. He didn't really do much aside from one or two knees. What struck to me was how terribly outwrestled he was by a boxer, which demoralized him early in the fight. It's funny to watch his pre-fight interviews where he always talks about "fathers plan" and how better of a wrestler he is.
Ray longo once again won a belt by a fluke.
