In trying to not let this devolve into the typical Yan/Aljo thread.
I’ve noticed some similarities between the hate and heat had for the two, not counting accolades in MMA and more as a personality.
As the thread title suggests....

Known for being wrestling based fighters with smothering grappling and serviceable standup skills, a knack for playing the heel, a large love him/hate him following and a penchant for theatrical fouls.

Is Aljamain Sterling our modern MMA era Josh Koscheck?

Aljo is so much worse.

Josh was ALWAYS that way. He dug his heels in as a heel way before he was on TUF. "I'm an instigator"

So in that way he is alot more honest than most people trying to be a "villain"

He doesnt have to do anything he normally wouldnt already do.

Koscheck was an absolute ass. And it was way before the diva era, where trash talk gets you title shots. Sterling is obviously trolling now... if he signs the rematch I won't hold anything against him. If he ducks Yan I'll always remember him as a super bitch.

Sterling knows he will never beat Yan
Aljo was in his best shape ever and Yan wasn’t but he still managed to dominate and ragdoll him so i don’t know what’s aljo hoping for especially if Petr comes even in better shape next time.

Koscheck faked getting hit in the face twice and milked it. Aljo got hit flush in the face and milked it. I think Kos was always a heel, Aljo has some redeeming qualities but he is burying himself lately with the post fight antics.

Their antics are nothing alike. Josh was a genuine heel who flat out didn't give a shit and seemed to enjoy stirring up nonsense.

Aljo isn't a genuine heel and is just taking advantage of the situation. If he keeps it up, he'll evolve into another Colby and he'll struggle with a real trashtalker. Yan doesn't even speak English

At least Aljo actually got hit in the face, Koscheck just faked it.

Only when aljo says he gonna motorboat people’s ass.

I don’t get this post. Is it Vitor winning via cut and you are likening it to aljo winning by illegal strike?

not a good comparison imo.

Can’t believe Sterling is still being bashed for getting smashed in the face illegally, costing him all chance of victory even if he was able to carry on, and choosing not to fight on. He was presented with the most sensible option and he took it. We’re entering very uncomfortable territory at this point.

You're kidding right? Sterling did it once in a title fight where the knee actually landed. Kos did this type of stuff multiple times in non title fights and even faked when the knee doesn't land for example against Rumble

people are retards.

yeah, sterling acting like he was fainting looked dumb as shit, but it doesn't change the fact that yan fucked up. there was no reason for aljo to continue after eating that knee and yan has no one to blame but himself. he landed a hard strike that was completely illegal. fight is over, you're done. it doesn't matter if the opponent was unable to continue or not, you landed a hard-ass knee to his face, illegally. if aljo should just take it and continue, what's the difference between this and yan's corner hitting sterling over the head with the stool between rounds?

and this is coming from a guy who thinks knees and kicks should be completely legal on the ground. "grounded opponent" is bullshit. you don't want stomps, fine. but knees should be legal everywhere, as should soccer kicks and upkicks.

I don't see how they are similar at all. Koscheck never really threw kicks which is a huge part of Aljo's game. Koscheck's striking wasn't great he just had a heavy overhand which Aljo doesn't have. Most of Koschecks career he basically avoided the stand up at all costs where Aljo is more balanced. I really can't think of many similarities for the two. What's your logic here? Are you equating Koscheck faking an illegal show and putting on an acting performance to Aljo's acting performance after actually being hit illegally? Aside from the acting job after illegal/almost illegal strike I don't see the comparison.
