Alex is known for his knockout win over Adesanya in kickboxing, and is actually training at the newly crowned LHW champ Glover Teixeira’s gym.

Ian Garry is a young Irish prospect coming from Cage Warriors, starting off as a 7-0 fighter with a boxing base now training at Sanford MMA in Florida; former home to current WW champ Kamaru Usman

Ian's a big WW. He comes across like a decent guy, confident but not obnoxious

Pereira gets a very tough first fight considering he's literally ONLY JUST switched over full time to MMA. That doesn't look particularly favourable to me. Michailidis could easily win that one if he doesn't start out too tentative and gets after the wrestling (even clinchwork).

Ian Garry is going to overwhelm Jordan though.

Just think, if Bellator had signed Alex Pereira he wouldn't be fighting anyone like Michailidis for at least five or six fights...

I like his body frame, he seems to be an athletic guy. I just really want to see him tighten up his defense because he seems too hittable

If he's boxing based they are most likely expecting this to be a stand up fight where Pereira should have the advantage considering he's a world champion kickboxer in 2 different weight divisions. Plus he isn't a UFC fighter and also making his debut. So both are considered green in UFC level competition terms. It's a good match up on paper. Plus the point is to fast track Pereira, not slow play him to an Izzy fight.

Michailidis started out kickboxing and wrestling as a teenager, but has leaned more on his stand up in more recent fights. Early on, though, he was submitting guys. He held his own against Keenan Cornelius in a BJJ bout back in the day () showing he was legit even then.

I know not every fighter looks for the easiest path to victory, as insane as that sounds, and some will just plod forward even when it's not working (Brandon Davis against Danaa Batgerel was a recent example of this eye-wateringly bad strat/outcome), so there's every chance Michailidis tries to feel his way into the bout and gets KO'd. He's not the world's fastest starter.

But if he's going to strategize rather than focus entirely on his own development (the number of fighters that don't tape their opponents is crazy), there's ZERO question in my mind he's got the skills to do so. He's a pretty proven grappler, it will be how (and if) he can close the distance that should determine if he wins or not.

Sorry about the 'ifs and buts' breakdown, but he isn't just a striker or a boxing-based dude is my point. Pereira might be able to hop up once or twice, but if Michailidis plays this right he should be a decent favourite.

Never mind I read the post too fast and didn't realize Peirara wasn't fighting Ian Gary. Thought the video posted was Peira's opponent. So ignore my previous post.

Jordan Williams is probably fighting for his UFC job in this one.

Can also see the loser of Gian Villante vs. Chris Barnett getting cut.

He is. He's got a tendency to block punches with his face.

Different weight classes bro haha

Andreas is no joke. That's a tough fight if you ask me.

Really?

A guy who has been knocked out four times and lost a round to KB Bhullar, who may be a better fighter than Andreas, but Bhullar had some performance anxiety issues.

They couldn't have booked an easier fight at MW for Pereira than Michealidas. Andreas is there to get knocked out.

If Alex can get his takedown defence (and be a submission threat - with those long limbs chokes are a definite option) he is going to be a fucking terror for anyone who can't hold him down.

The guy has perfect takedown defense, watch his November 2020 LFA fight.

Which is not a surprise considering he trains with and is coached by UFC LHW Champion Glover Teixeira whose entire game is centered around the TD.

I thought Villante got cut ages ago, Serra must be calling in favours with uncle Dana for him as I can’t remember the last time he got a win

And even crazier, we might see Huggy Bear get a UFC win. Brings a tear to my eye.

Hes had one mma fight in 5 years against a guy who wouldnt even be a bottom 5 ufc mw.
Acting like he has some kind of Jose Aldo level tdd is ridiculous.
