Pretty sure this is cultural.

HG I think is harder hitting with faster more quotable and digestible jokes. Airplane is more long winded and character driven

Airplane heavily leans on Leslie. HG on writing.

I would say HG but I think i usually relative to the humor you're bought up with

This is one of the better Vs I’ve seen. Can make a case for both films.

I might narrowly give it to Airplane on sheer volume of gags that land. It’s just rapid fire joke after joke and a surprisingly large number of them are good, which is so unusual for spoof type comedies.

But the best stuff in Grail can hang with the best aspects of Airplane. It’s just some of the segments in Python aren’t quite as funny as others. But I could rewatch the scene with Arthur talking to Dennis about government over and over. And for me, the funniest segment of the Holy Grail is the scene at Swamp Castle. From Terry Jones as the son who just wants to sing getting on the nerves of Michael Palin as his father to Palin trying to explain, with little success, what he wants Eric Idle and Graham Chapman (the two guards) to do- it’s just hilarious stuff.

Airplane.

Mods make a poll.

I love both very much, Airplane has far more jokes but overall Holy Grail is just funnier to me.

Airplane 100%

Never really been a huge MP fan tbh even as someone who grew up on British comedy. Airplane is laugh after laugh after laugh

Yeah "Huge tracks of land" is great and all, but Airplane just keeps nailing the beats with "it's ok, I speak Jive", "I am serious, and don't call me Shirley", Otto Pilot, the water in the face gag, so many jokes hitting in perfect timing non stop.
