When I first watched the trailer for this, I honestly didnt think twice. I had seen so many good trailers, only for the film to suck. I went into this with zero expectations, but came out, well, surprised.

Air is about an upstart company in the 80s called Nike and a key person within its ranks who tries to secure Michael Jordan as the new face of their shoe brand. The shoe brand at the time was not nearly what it went on to become, trailing behind the likes of Converse and Adidas. It mainly catered to runners and running shoes and had just recently started a basketball division.

The cast is filled with several familiar faces such as Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Chris Tucker, Viola Davis, Jason Bateman and Marlon Wayans.

One by one, they all pulled out spectacular performances throughout. Affleck, Damon, Tucker and Messina was especially great in their respestive roles. I am not too familiar with Jordans mom, but Viola Davis also does a great job here.

Michaels characters face is not shown and his dialogue is limited to a few words at best. At first I was like wtf....a movie about Mike, without Mike in a pivotal character role. Thing is, it works and works perfectly. You are so engaged with some of these characters you never heard of, the backstory, that it actual did the movie a favor NOT having Mikes character have actual dialogue or meaningful scenes.

The plot, also a familiar and well known one is obvious, which makes you instantly wonder how they can make this compelling enough to stay glued, knowing the obvious outcome. Once again, success.

The writers did a wonderfully brilliant job of keeping the audience engaged in a story not many people knew or cared to learn about. How Nike actually acquired the future goat.

The story ran fluidly through the course of its 112 minutes. Very few dull moments at all as the acting and dialogue meshed well to keep you wanting to know more, to anticipate the next scene and the next.

The soundtrack was flawless. Its the 80s, so you know you are gonna get some great tunes in the background. Sister Christain, Money For Nothing, My Adidas, Time After Time, Cant Fight This Feeling....nostalgia 101. Its not just about the song but mainly the placement of the songs. They hit the mark here in a big way.

Overall, this is a movie I have been feinding for. A real, story based film with solid acting, an excellent script and great tunes. A real movie for real movie heads from hollywood. Finally.

I rate this a solid 9/10. I only wished it was actually longer, believe it or not. Thats how well this movie flowed.

I hope it wins some awards cause movies like this deserve to.

This is a movie I'm actually looking forward to.

Btw, Michael Jordan is the GOAT of Basketball. Period. End of story.
