After watching the card last night I can only conclude Dana had it right the first time

Although there are sporadic fights that are somewhat entertaining, overall I think WMMA has been a huge flop. There’s just not enough talent. And even if there were a lot of talented women out there, the majority of men don’t enjoy watching women compete in sports. It’s simple as that.

Even women don't like women's sports outside of playing themselves.

Their champ got bored winning and retired. Aldana put on a pathetic display. Hunched over looking through her fingers and didn't throw a single strike. How people thought she had a chance when she got out grappled and dominated by Holly Holm is beyond me.

The jj vs Maverick
Fight was one of the best of the night

but women should not main event a ppv ever

There’s jut so few wow moments with it . Where’s the 6’7” freak fights ?

Fans who pay $80+ for a card want to see the best possible athletes in the world perform

The best female MMA fighter in the world probably isn't even Top 5000, if you take every single MMA fighters into account (including males)

WMMA is a lesser quality product sold at a premium. It's a rip-off

I use to train with and even corner pro wmma fighter back in the day

For some reason it never felt natural to me and never was a fan of it

If anything, its sad to see when women get mismatched cause the skill level is dramatic among the few who are actually dangerous

I dont mind women doing sports as male, I just dont prefer them to fight for some lizard reason

I'm not against them having their own league. I just don't like that they fight on the men's card. Someone said on another thread it's like having to watch a WNBA game before the NBA game. I agree with that take. There are a few talented women here and there but it falls so far short of the men.

The good 2, 3, 5 women fighters aren't worth all the divisions on the roster. It's hard to feel that anyone that hypes up WMMA isn't doing it in a white knight fashion. Objectively they are not that good. And nobody is saying that there aren't terrible men's fighters in the UFC but those are much more isolated than having entire divisions that are average at best aside from the top 2-3. Let them have their own promotion and spotlight. Throwing them in with men just sucks. Let's see how popular they really are when they aren't being propped up by the men fighters.

There are times when you get the likes of Ronda, Cyborg, Gina, Nunes, Valentina etc where WMMA is kind of a positive for the sport. There arent many other sports out there that churn out more high profile female athletes than MMA does. Ronda was for a while one of the biggest stars in all combat sports which is pretty crazy. But yeah 90% of the time its just trash that brings down the cards.

Overall it's horrible, but it's part of the business model now. It keeps them from getting cancelled, it allows them to fill slots on each event much cheaper on average, and gives them more options for each event.

I'd love to know the statistics of what percentage of fights go to decision. Difference in strikes landed per minute, knockdowns in a fight, etc.

Most female fights are boring as fuck. but the few good ones are really
entertaining. usually though the female mma fights kill the momentum of a card.

The problem I'd say is that WMMA needed significant investment in it, the UFC's "let them come to us" tactic to maximise profits has done a really bad job at doing that.

between men and women? Those numbers are probably out there.

As always, let me state it again.

I'm only interested if the women look good. I want them to fight good, but looks come before talent for me.

There are plenty of other great fights to watch, so I can get my itch scratched then, but if its women, I want another reason to watch them and it's good looks.
