Hey sherbros

About 5 days back, while training wrestling, I feel like my right ear got pinched or something, and I could feel a constant pain in my ear for the next few days. Yesterday, I noticed that the inside of the ear is a little swelled up, and I could feel like there's some fluid in there. I read up about it online, and it seems like a cauliflower ear developing.

I read that within 7-10 days, the fluid would harden and give it the appearance of a cauliflower ear. I guess I had a few questions for people who have had a cauliflower ear.. mine doesn't seem to be particularly big (ala Randy couture) so as to disfigure the shape of my ear, so I was thinking I might just let it be the way it is. Would icing it help (it's already been 5 days and I haven't yet). My ear still pains quite a bit, would it continue to pain even if it gets hard? And does it impede training going forward in any way? Is there something I should do about it immediately, or should I just wear it as a badge of honor (lol)?

Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

I’m pretty sure you can get them drained.

Go see a doctor. You can get it drained

I had the same issue with my nards .

I have to drain them every night on the wife..

Ice..ice..ice...Avoid getting them drained if you can.

Bas Rutten always claimed he succesfully drained his ears as quickly as possible when this started to develop. If you look at the amount of fight experience, training he has had and besides that having trained other fighters for many, many years aswell, i guess this method prevents cauliflower ears from developing.

Would ice still help even if it's been 5 days, and I was stupid enough to not ice it right away?

Been doing Judo for a long time and thankfully I don't have them but know lot's of guys that do..The guys that don't drain them have cauli but most still look like ears..I don't have any medical evidence just what I have seen and if/when I ever get them I will not drain them.

Ben Askren wrestled so much he developed a cauliflower head.

Alright, I'll share with me what I did when I got it from Muay Thai.

Drain them with a syringe.
Get two magnets with the appropriate strength and wrap them in cotton or something similar. With one magnet on the outside and one on the inside they'll attract, stopping blood flow. It's a weird solution, but it worked very well.

Drain it and put a pressure bandage on it so that it can retain its old shape and you’ll be good to go. Make sure that it doesn’t get folded over and crushed again till it’s fully healed, even if that means wearing headgear.

Hit it again, than when you argue with people on sherdog you can ask these nannies if they train and show them a picture of your ugly ears.

If you’re doing a lot of wrestling, and you don’t want to get it wear head gear. Otherwise you’ll keep having the same issue

Draining it works, but I imagine a little bit is always going to get left behind. Also, if you ever decide you are done training you can get them fixed surgically. The problem is though if you do that and go back to training they will come back quickly

Butter, lots of butter with a dash of pink himalayan salt.

5 days after is a good time to drain it. I read that actually draining too early isn't as effective because it will keep bleeding the next few days.

I had a battle with draining my ears because I kept training too. I drained them both multiple times and tried to use magnets to keep them together and then if I did train I wore headgear but still it would fill up. Eventually I drained them one last time and did the magnet shit AGAIN and didn't train at all for a week or two and just let them heal. So now I have cauliflower ears but they aren't super bad. They are noticeable if you are looking straight at it but not noticeable to the point where you'd see it a mile away or think I'm a freak
