I was watching ADCC 2005 the other day and I felt there were alot of things wrong with the rules. Does anyone else feel the same way? The rule that I though was especially bad was the "no points for takedowns if they land on their stomach rule". I thought this was ADCC not judo. In Judo the rule works better because you restart on your feet quickly, so you can attempt another throw, but in ADCC people were just stall in the turtle position. The other rule I think that needs changing is the "2 hooks backmount" rule. There were so many times people would get 1 hook in and get nothing. I don't think you should get a full 6 points for 1 hook in, but I think you should atleast get 1. IMO if you're on someone's back with 1 hook in, you're in a dominat position. Also I think they should get rid of the "no points" time. I saw a few matches when I think the better grappler lost because of the no points time.
I thik the worst example of the abuse of these rules was Rani Yahyra. When he fought Leo Veira and Wagney Fabiano, he dove strait to his stomach and then let them get 1 hook in. After a struggle he would get to half guard and his opponent would get no points. Basicly he was allowed to pull half guard without any points being taken away. He went to about 3 or 4 overtimes with Leo Veira, but he didn't do anything, but get taken down and turtle up. My point is they should get rid of some of these rules because I think they made alot of matches too long and in some cases boring. I like to see who the best grappler is, not who knows how to manipulate the rules the best. Does anyone agree/disagree?
