Well its 56 percent VS 14 percent for Democrats. Its not even close Republicans completely dominate the landscape of top money. Democrats cannot even rely of Warren Buffett to carry the day in donated apparently less than a million dollars to campaigns. When you weigh the wealth of families Republicans can call on a majority of the wealthiest families for campaign contributions. The Koch brothers are the dark money kings with hundreds of millions of dollars at their disposal.

Here is the list of the wealthiest families and their political bend. I am surprised that Bill Gates is not listed he is over 60 billion dollars just him alone.

1. Walton – Republican

2. Koch – Republican

3. Mars – Republican

4. Cargill-MacMillan – Republican

5. Johnson (Fidelity) – Republican

6. Hearst – Republican

7. Cox – Democrat

Now you see why they want to get rid of the unions.

Everyone turns Republican once they have enough wealth.

That's just a front. Their only affiliation is to the Illuminati and the pursuit of NWO

I had a little trouble reading this cause the punctuation was off, or you conjugated verbs wrong or something. If what you're saying is that republicans have an unfair advantage with campaign donations, you might wanna look at the cost of Barack Obama's '08 campaign cause I think it was the most expensive of anyone who's ever run. This also kind of ruins the notion that right leaning people are a bunch of shit-kicking, backwoods, religious dummies.

Stupid people are usually poor. Duuuuhhh.

I think they used campaign donations as a way of showing which party they affiliate with. Not like forbes called up each family and polled their political leanings.

And having it stated as wealthy families not individuals leads to alot of that money being old money.

Would like to see a similar article on an individual basis.

this is true and if you don't know this you are poor or started poor and appreciate the system that let you rise from the muck. (see: many celebrities, some doctors and engineers who had to use pell grants)

I think it is more a combination of wealth and age. There are alot of wealthy young business men (and women) with strong democratic leanings.
In 15 years when they start hating modern music and teenagers they will come over to the dark side.

Interesting fact much of the top money people are from old money families. Not many of the wealthiest come from the tech sector from the way I look at it. Much of these very wealthy inherited their wealth. Many of them did not start their companies but gained vast fortunes that they gained from their parents. Many of the new wealthiest are tech giants. People such as Bill Gates, Lawrence Ellison, Larry Page, Sergey Brin and they seem to vote Democrat by a larger margin. But their fortune still lags behind the top of the old money families wealth.

I think generationally families with great wealth like the Gettys "Yes still around" tend to lean Republican. But interestingly enough the Getty family who are still alive are big Democratic donors. I am also surprised they are not listed as well as the Rockefeller family they are still quite wealthy. In fact the Getty family raised millions and millions for President Obama re-election to the Presidency. They live in San Francisco and own a huge chunk of the area. I cannot even figure out how large their fortune could be? But they as well as the Rockefellers have real huge fortunes one could only imagine?

Getty family and President Obama. They live very private lives and have huge ties to many tech companies.

I don't think the real wealthy families are up front on how much they have.

Yea its hard to trace how much money they have tied up overseas. In the case of the Rothschilds they have their named tied to several towers in Australia and have been for sometime quietly buying up land.

Donald Trump didn't even crack the top 50?
Da fuq?

Well duh.

Republicans = lower taxes to the wealthy

Not even close these people sit on top of fortunes far greater then what Donald Trump has even with all his properties. People don't realize how vast these fortunes these people have when you hear that having 12 billion does not even get you in the top 20.
