90's R&B Singer D'Angelo Dead At 51

Right,. I can say (if I was an idiot) "Prince sucks" : People I interact with with will mostly say I'm a moron and that's it.

Being an up and coming musician and talking shit about a legend...well you're probably going to be called an idiot, then when you likely don't come close to the man's greatness you are proven to be so.
pretty much how it turned out as the years went by and he said he had personal problems but I don't know much about that. Prince always had personal problems and on average, he put out an album a year and for his first decade, he was giving his surplus hits to other people.

There was quite a buzz in my circle, which consisted of musicians, so it's a bit different than being a normal person. They were raving about him, I don't think I ever really heard more than a few of his songs. I never liked the music of that era. "Neo-Soul" what was wrong with the old soul? It didn't need to be overpolished, overproduced and totally image oriented. That's not just him, that was just one branch of an industry that didn't offer much.

Again, the fact that he talked shit about Prince, a guy who was supposed to be his hero, at a time when he was just really getting his feet wet did piss the Prince fans off and I for one, stated that the game wasn't that easy for anyone. Then, D'angelo has some sort of breakdowns or personal problems, Prince did more albums in his first five years than D'angelo did in his entire career.

They're both dead, bro, you can let it go...

Sure, I'm not saying that at all on the other place I'm posting, there's no D'angelo fanatics here so I'm just not being as careful, unless you're one.

It is newsworthy to me as I think I mentioned, so many in my circle were raving about this new wunderkind. I never got super into him but I don't question what they all raved about. I'm sure he was fantastic. But, that little drama is the first thing I think about when it comes to him and that's not MY fault.

You never heard more than a few, your musician friends raved about him, and because he talked his opinion about prince, 30 years later you have this, what, hatred for the guy in his rip thread? Why not go listen to that first album and see why your non normal music friends liked him so much.

Your opinion originates from a place of ignorance. D’Angelo’s biggest musical hero was Prince and I don’t believe for a second his intention was to rag on him. Even with just 3 albums out D’Angelo is one of the greats. I suggest you educate yourself on his music, you will be rewarded.

I've heard of him. Not too familiar with his music or the genre he's known for. But 51 is very young, RIP.

"Legendary"?? - Still RIP at only 51. Very young.
