$500 million estimate for the Vanderbilt mansion, the most expensive home in America

Elon money playboi

This was the Vanderbilt's "Summer cottage" where they spent 2 months out of the year

CNN's Anderson Cooper probably grew up here

“ summer cottage” not even the primary home. Lol . They’d have to bury me there if it was mine.

Give me a fully functional bunker a 1/4 of this size and keep the change.

The Breakers is pretty close to where I'm from, there's a ton of gilded age mansions over there. I have family that lives around there.

I think the Biltmore Estate is probably worth a bit more (also a Vanderbilt property), but The Breakers is close. I think the city of Newport or Newport historical society bought it for essentially jack shit back in the day. I remember the number being less than a million bucks.

Ive hung out in Newport a bit visiting my sister when she went to salve Regina. Iirc the Lipton (soup?) Mansion is also a thing.

That's worth 23 million at most... Better be looking over their shoulder for the law, I presume...

We have the Vanderbilt Museum not far from me. I love the old mansions. We are headed the breakers in a few weeks for a weekend stay. I love the architecture and attention to detail.
