Media Ciryl Gane reflects on loss to Jon Jones ahead of UFC Paris

lol at people shitting on this strategy. What else was Cyril suppose to do? become an elite grappler on the level of Jon fucking Bones Jones in a couple of months? Hell he wouldnt be able to do that if he had years to try.

Staying on the outside an jabbing and leg kicking while avoiding every clinch and trying to strike on the exit if he is clinched was (and still is) the only strategy that could give Cyril a chance against Jones. Its a horrible match up for him.

His “coach” basically told him to go in the rain and try not to get wet.

Doing absolutely no wrestling/TDD training between Ngannou, and Jones. And saying he doesn’t even train was alarming. I thought he was bullshitting as gamesmanship. Nope.. It was fact.

I have nothing against him. But if he can’t be bothered to train, and improve the holes in his game. I can’t be bothered to give a fuck.

I mean his strategy should've been keep distance on feet, if he gets clinched drill TDD scrambles, if he gets taken down drill getting back to feet, drill positions on ground to avoid getting submitted and minimize strikes. It's more than one strategy that went wrong, missing the jab was just the first mistake.

Prediction:

Ciryl Gane will be at the everloving shit out of Sergei Spivak and the the usual cast of dipshits will say that Spivak was never any good anyway.
I don't think anyone expects much from Spivak anyway lol. His notable wins are what, 40 yr old Lewis and 60 yr old Oleynik? Got his ass beat by Aspinall a few fights ago.

Gane's grappling is horrid so people expect Spivak to win. That simple really. This is no JDM situation lol.

Many times fighters do not deserve the criticism they are getting. In this case, Cane deserves criticism because he looked like shit; ill prepared, quit early, zero hand defense, zero effort to improve his position, no effort to get back to his feet....it was bad, the dude deserved the harsh critique he got. He lacked basic techniques he should have learned 90 days into Jujitsu classes.

See, it has already started.

Lmao no you would not be able to defend from what Jones was doing with "90 days of Jujitsu classes" . Gane didn't look "bad", thats just an assertion one can make with a surface level reading of the results, Gane literally looked the same as he always does (remember all his awful decisions when get wrestled by Francis and how he made him look like an all American wrestling champ).

His mistake was throwing an aggressive shot and therefore getting clinched, but again he looked the same as he always did.

If you watch Ganes early career he was getting out wrestled by much lower level guys. Nothing changed here with Gane. To sum things up; the only big surprise was how strong and good Jones looked at HW, Gane looked the same.
