Update:
average in large cage is 48% finishes.

Tonight = 69% finishes.

What’s the UFC Octagon Size?

There are two UFC octagon sizes. The original and larger UFC octagon is 30 feet across (9.1m), and 5 feet 9 inches high (1.8m), with the inside fight space measuring 746 square feet.

The smaller UFC octagon is 25 feet (7.6m) in diameter, is the same height as the original, and has a total space of 518 square feet.

Those who were watching during the WEC days will probably remember that the smaller 25 foot cage lead to a lot of action.

Hopefully that means we get a night of beautiful glorious violence tonight.

May these fighters paint the Octagon red tonight and when they wake up from exhilerating knockouts may they all go home safely to their families with minimal long term damage.

Dude just got slept BAD in the Prelims, 17 seconds and dude STARCHED, and it was a flyweight fight. Good start.

Just bleed.

Here is an article that breaks down some statistics on finish rates depending on cage size and weight class, main card vs Prelims, etc..

An older bloody elbow article :

TLDR:
Small cage resulted in 3% increase in upsets and 2.7% increase in clinch time.

How Does UFC Octagon Size Influence UFC Outcomes?
While a minority of people think UFC octagon size has no influence on the outcome of a fight, the majority of fighters and spectators believe it does.

This is supported by the alarming statistic showing the bigger octagon has a 48% finish rate, while the smaller-sized octagon has a 60% finish rate and 20% more strikes thrown.

We just need this legend back in the cage to referee the fight and make sure there's no early stoppage, or stoppage at all!

How do they decide when to use the small cage at arena shows?

Maybe Whittaker’s point-fighting ass can finally get a finish for the first time in an eternity.

The height of the cage fencing should be adjustable, so it can be moved up and down by weight class. That way the flyweights, bantamweights, and some of the featherweights wouldn't look so tiny in there.

Usually based on arena size.
Smaller venues get the smaller cage.

All events at the APEX use the 25 foot cage.

Generally the PPVs are in bigger venues, so the numbered PPV events, from my memory, tend to be bigger 30ft cage, where fight nights are more likely to have the 25 foot cage.

Yah, so I'm wondering why the 25footer for T-Mobile arena.

Ok, so average in large cage is 48% finishes.

Tonight = 69% finishes.

13 fights
7 Ko/tKO
2sub

Moreno vs Pantoja was a fucking war
Both dudes bloody and beat to shit.
Hooker vs Turner was fucking war, Dan Hooker won with a broken arm.
