Because so many wanted to see Islam lose. If it was anything remotely competitive a huge amount of people would have been calling it a Volk win.

I've given this oppinion before, but basically, Volk was so worried about takedowns that he allowed Islam to control the action on the feet. He finally started to assert himself in the championship rounds, but it was too late by that point because he had given l away the 1st three rounds.
