It's a good chance for Rinya Nakamura to showcase his wrestling while also buying him some time develop his striking defense and striking defense overall. Hopefully he fights more frequently now that his "time off" has finished. Hopefully he can somehow attain Bo Nickal levels of hype and attention.

Fernie Garcia is game, but this really feels like a squash match.

It's literally a step down from guys he's already beaten. I called that shit.

Yeah, I did too. I only hope that he smashes this guy and can have a quick turn around. I really doubt they're going to fast track Rinya the way we want, though. Maybe if he gets some more highlight finishes, they'll jump him up quicker. I hope so.

You could make the argument 10-2 Toshiomi Kazama was better than Garcia. You could also argue 23-6-1 Caetamo and 9-2-2 Shohei Nose were too. It's weird, Rinya is an elite wrestler and athlete who's finishing all his opponents dominantly and they aren't even giving him a step up in competition. 27 isn't young when you're 7-0, gotta push him hard than this.

Rinya has been training, he was at Korean Top Team and then some Mongolian gym in the capital Ulaanbaatar. I'd like to see him working in a boxing gym or with a good boxing training, he needs to spar a lot and refine and grow his striking and defense. Still expect he trucks through this fella.

Sometimes if you get someone easy and absolutely blow through them in spectacular fashion it can facilitate a faster rise through the ranks. Look at Abus, he blows through a lower level guy in Stoltzfus, looks spectacular doing it and now he's got Strickland.

This might actually work out better than having a tough scrap with someone like Victor Henry.

Thought this was gonna be women, by the person who only posts about women

I was wrong

Unfortunately, bantamweight is not middleweight. The only reason Abusupiyan managed to get a quick go at the rankings is because upper brass is looking for contenders in a cleaned-out division for Adesanya to face. Ikram and Bo are notables fighters getting boosted and Caio is making some small strides. Bantamweight has contenders for days and they won't be running out of them any time soon. It's looking that Rinya might have to go on a long streak. If Rinya is lucky, he might get chances at guys like Gravely or Morozov.

Yeah, I get it, Road to the UFC isn't exactly the same as getting a starching of a win on an actual UFC card. Hopefully it's not a string of fights like this.
