Media Joe Rogans thoughts on Mike Tyson joining MMA, Do you think he would have done well?

YES, NO Question !
if Tyson had the same type of LIFE coach, (with an MMA rather than Boxing background) he would have had the same impact. He is a true student of the ART of boxing. His ferocity in the ring was unmatched. The savageness he went into the ring with was unbelievable...except IT WAS REAL.

Tyson was a phenom in boxing because he was an excellent student who followed instructions well under a legendary trainer. His explosiveness was perfect for boxing but MMA is different that requires more versatility, agility, and different martial art backgrounds especially an emphasis in grappling.

Mike Tyson would have killed one of these fools in UFC. They aren't anything special.

His style of boxing and indeed his body type was potentially well suited for MMA if he'd taken it seriously, not sure I can see him doing that though given the difference in pay/status during the 90's especially.

he has some aspects that would favor him, if he had been in the early UFCs he def would have won a few of those...but the way he was trained for boxing, was to be a student of a very old game. MMA is very young, and it would be very different to train for MMA like he trained for boxing.

Young Mike was a monster. Didn't translate as well as he aged, and relied too much on athleticism and speed over technique.

Mike Tyson doing MMA lol. Would have devolved into NHB real quick and even then there would probably have been violations...*makes sound of spitting out a piece of human ear*.

It's just hard to say, look at Manhoef. Some abilities are not only about training and dedication, there's a innate inclination for them. BJJ master Demian Maia trained a lot of boxing and still was horrible at it while Gilbert Burns trained it too and is a lot better at it. We can't say absolutely nothing about how would Tyson be at grappling/wrstling only at looking at his boxing abilities. He would surely score some vicious KOs and be a decent MMA fighter but to say he would dominate is far reached

Mike Tyson training MMA at a young age would've been done extremely well just would have to learn grappling - wresting game. Tyson was a student of the game super athletic and very explosive.

Totally True. Decades of different styles of boxing offense and defense study was available, and absorbed, by Mike. MMA was too new of a sport for Mike to learn and to train to the extent that he did in boxing.

Mike's power was discombobulatingly devastating, his style was impetuous, his defense impregnable, he was the ferocious. It would be ludicrous for mortals to even attempt to enter his realm.
