Media Khabib finally gives the REAL on why he stopped cornering his fighters after Coach of the Year win

Good for him. He accomplished what he wanted to accomplish, and is now focused on his family. He retired on top. I think he'll go back to cornering / coaching someday. It's ingrained in his DNA. Always going to be a little criticism there for Khabib not defending his belt longer and possibly challenging for the 170 strap. The best lightweight of all time crown will be easy to pass.
It sucks the UFC / Dana White politics were involved in not making the GSP / Khabib fight happen. Everyone wanted it, but the matchmaker. So much for the bullshit of making fights people want to see.

Khabib has now quit his role of being there for the critical execution stage for his fighters.

Khabib legacy -- I've got mine!
The media didn't mob Abdulmanap and take attention off all of his fighters during every event.

It's a selfless, incredibly noble move on Khabib's part.

He wanted the success and even the money, but never the fame or to cast a shadow over his fighters legacies.

Whatever his reasons are, Khabib walked away on top. Nothing left to prove or accomplish.

There are always going to be new challengers, superfights, and other "what-ifs". Better to leave people wanting more than overstay your welcome and make people wish you retired sooner.

I think there's a giant middle ground you're missing there. He was in his prime, he could have tried to compete with other champs defense records or something. Everything he ever did will get lapped by others as time goes by because he didn't set the bar very high, fight many names or take many risks. 3 title defenses and winning the title vs Al Iaquinta is tough. He is MMAs Joe Calazghe in many ways, a lot more Joe could have done.

He has the highest round for round winning % of any fighter or coach in MMA history and is tied for the record of most title defenses in arguably the best division of the premier organization.

People may surpass his LW title defenses, but will they get there with the same level of dominance? Doubtful.

and will they go on to repeat the same level of dominance again as coach? Impossible.

Khabib is MMA.

Khabib thought just because Islam is the better version of himself, that he was too goood to lose. All of the sudden, Islam got destroyed by Volk. Woops

That’s a bad comparison. Joe never beat any HOFers in their primes and rarely ever fought outside of his backyard. Khabib has wins over HOFers such as RDA, Dustin, and Conor, in their primes. He was also a finisher, unlike slappy Joe

Khabibs father said Islam was the better fighter. More complete.
This is some spin.

He said he was more well rounded. So did Javier. A lot of fighters are more complete than Khabib, but he destroys them anyway.

- Javier also said he's never seen Islam beat Khabib in a spar.
- Islam says he can't stop Khabib in the cage.
- All the sparring footage we've seen of them shows Khabib dominating him.
- Islam already can't have a career as dominant as Khabib as he's been finished, dropped, stunned and bloodied multiple times.

I think Islam will go on to have a longer resume, but even he himself acknowledges he'll never be Khabib.

Good interview with Javier yesterday. He gives a very honest assessment of the Volk fight afterwards and compares Islam and Khabib as well.

It never gets old to see how butthurt a lot of these losers STILL are to retroactively tear down Khabib’s career every chance they get.

stay salty boys, 29-0, undefeated undisputed, p4p #1, LW GOAT
