Volkanovski excels at making adjustments and game planning. There really wasn't a ton of footage on Islam's striking for him to study going into this first fight, but now there is. I'd bet my money that in a rematch he'd make the better adjustments.

The problem is his age. He's due for a decline any day now, unfortunately. If they fight again within 12 months, I may pick him

What if he's a better fighter next time they meet? He has 25 min of fight experience with Islam to bring to a rematch and vice versa. He theoretically could be an improved version of himself by the time they rematch as well. Advantages and disadvantages aside, I would argue that a rematch would be just as big of an opportunity.

more likely the ufc will try continue to build volk at 145 as the guy 'who gave islam his toughest fight' . if volk wants another shot he will probably have to vacate and face a top 5.
