I've seen some rumblings here and there about that fight being boring. Perhaps i've seen wrong and it's just in my head, so i had to make this thread to make sure.

Did anyone actually thought that was a boring fight??

Because as far as technique and round management goes, along with anticipation for the next strike, that's the fight of the year so far in my book. Close too.

People seem to theorize that he gave most of his "fight life" in the Romero fights, but I honestly think Izzy just might be a tad bit better. He did improve and do a good job, but never truly had Izzy in trouble, which was surprising to me.

Yeah, a good amount of people do. Not me though. Loved every bit of it.

I enjoyed the fight more on second viewing . Rob had his moments with the double jab and Izzy landed that nice straight and kicks galore; everything in between was competitive and high level.

Some rounds had less action, but overall it was still an interesting fight.

If you were describing a fight to someone you knew and were trying to sell how exciting it was, "great round management" is certainly not something that would make me want to catch a replay.

The fight was ok and was entertaining for me because Whittaker changed up his approach and managed to steal some rounds.

Israel is not a fighter who I typically find entertaining though and a lot of that has to do with the commentators acting like he is decimating opponents out there when in reality I would guess less than 5% of his strikes thrown have any fight ending potential. It is insufferable to listen to when the commentary doesn't at all match what you're seeing.

I think being a fan of a fighter can greatly change your enjoyment of a fight and ability to find excitement in what others may find boring. I would much rather watch Jon Fitch scramble for takedowns and hold onto top position like his life is on the line than watch Israel poke at someone for 5 rounds but to each their own. If someone thought this fight was boring, I could definitely see where they were coming from if they were not a fan of either fighter involved.

The fight against Vetorri was objectively boring though IMHO

I though Rob would fail to adapt and he did to some extend.
But he brough the fight to Izzy.
It was a Izzy dec victory as I predicted but it was decent.

Thought it was a great fight. Anyone watching that and thinks its boring is a fucking casual.

It wasn't boring but it was far from spectacular. How can it be when one of the fighters ( Izzy) was cruising to a victory and was never out of 2nd gear. ( Yes Whittaker was at his maximum, which is kind of depressing).

I passed out and never bothered to watch it. If you're going to be technical with Israel it's typically not the most exciting fight.

I thought it was quite boring. Not "bad" in terms of how they technically went about it (i.e., both had a smart gameplan. . . although Knuckles was WAY too 2-D and arrogantly thought he was doing enough just jabbing to take the belt away from a reigning champ...SMH), but in terms of excitement from a (MMA) fan's perspective. Just a flat fight, with (as I said) Knuckles refusing to change-up his striking at all. THANK GOD he at least went for a couple TDs. If he hadn't (and I thought he should have done more) I would officially stop rooting for him. And Izzy wasn't "fun" either, but he's the defending champ, it's not his job to take risks.

Tuck your micro-pp away and stop posturing. I'm the opposite of a casual and I thought the fight was boring and too flat/2-D. Don't worry, though! It's **OK** for fans to have differing opinions on a fight's subjective excitement. I thought it was boring. Fight me.

Why does EVERYTHING need to be POLARIZED for some people? "If you disagree with me, even in the slightest, then YOU ARE 100% OBJECTIVELY WRONG and the **OPPOSITE** of what is good!" - weird, unhealthy take on life, politics, and fights.
