Is a gimmick Jose Caceres vs Kamaru Usman rematch the move?

This stinky loss has been bothering me for along time! I think this win helps Usman on many levels. With a victory he can claim and be promoted as a fighter with no unavenged losses like GSP and Lennox Lewis for boxing. The WW GOAT convo strengthens as he will be on pair with GSP for no unavenged losses. The fight doesn't even need to be for the title, maybe a 3 round fight. He's smoked everyone else and this gives the WW division 6-9 months to sort itself out.

Thoughts? This interests me!

It’s pointless but ufc only mma fans would eat it up.

Ufc brought in horn to get slaughtered by Liddell at 205 but horn was an experienced established guy and was a huge dog.

Rematches like this doesn’t add anything to his career.

Horn was far more established then No Way Jose. Jose was a lower level journeyman in his prime which is over. He looked like a guy who should seriously consider stopping fighting the last couple times I've seen him. Like, really bad.

Not sure what's the point. Even if Usman beats Caceres 10 times in a row that wouldn't make his early career loss disappear.

Usman needed that loss. I doubt he hates it. If not Caceres another BJJ guy would catch him and make him tap. He needed to learn BJJ and he wasn't interested in it until he suffered that loss. Without that lesson, Usman couldn't be successful.

If Caceres was in UFC and if he was a ranked opponent, I could understand the point. But at this stage of their careers its obvious that Usman would beat Caceres 10 times out of 10 so its pointless to prove it, no one doubts he could.

On the one hand, no, it's not a sensible move.

However, on the other hand, as a fun/novelty type affair, still no.

Real question is why is a fight from a decade ago bothering you?
I'm really glad if this is the extent of your problems

It would derail Usman completely when Jose runs through him again.

My god, he just watches it come in and doesn't move. Fucking brutal. And the opponent is kind of a cock, the ref was already there and pushing him when he threw that second elbow.
I know it’s easy to critique these guys but it amazes me that they go into fights with such terrible defense. You’re risking a lot of brain damage for a small amount of money. Please try and work on avoiding power punches. I agree about the opponent being a bit of a dick there but I understand how it happens.

Check this guy out. He actually made it to Bellator but it’s scary how open and vulnerable he is. The knockout is brutal. Their coaches shouldn’t be sending them out there like this.
