Whittaker 2 - Underwhelming
Vetorri - Underwhelming
Jan - Underwhelming
Costa - Spectacular
Yoel - One of the worst title fights I've ever seen

It's actually pretty remarkable - I don't ever recall a fighter who's outcomes are on complete ends of the spectrum.
He is either getting rushed, countering and having an amazing performance that leaves you in awe or you can't believe you wasted your time watching a snooze fest. There's nothing in between.

I think now that his peers have seen so much footage on him and understand his approach and skill set, they will be cautious and make sure to not over extend or rush him which will make for consistently boring Izzy fights. He will shortly be regarded as the most boring fighter in the UFC

So he's taking the crown from Volk for a lot of you guys?

Did we really need another "I don't like Izzy for (insert reason here)" thread? Lol.

Izzy is a counter striker and the pressure his opposition puts on him helps dictate the style of fight that occurs. Bobby also needed to slow that fight down to have a chance despite Izzy walking him down for a lot of the fight. Vettori had to do the same thing. Yoel refused to commit and is just as at fault as Adesanya was for their fight. He ran through Costa.

Volk isn't boring in my book.

Yes , anotha one!

WB is also a counter striker but you still see him creating openings and landing something other than leg kicks when being offensive and initiating exchanges. Izzy is scared to have any sort of exchange inside of kick boxing range unless he's 110% certain that he is completely out of danger.

You'll see in about a year or so he will be deemed the most boring fighter in mma.

Volk isn't boring at all. I'm not in that camp. Also, I couldn't care less if people think a fighter is boring. Izzy has cleared out his division almost twice over. He's been in some exciting fights, but when you're constantly fighting top guys you're not always going to get a finish, especially when your opposition wants to do nothing but try to wrestle you to stifle your offense and movement. Maybe put more of the responsibility for these fights on them rather than just find another reason to whine about Adesanya?

Completely agree with your original post more or less and most of this one. But it's a total exaggeration to say that he'll be deemed the most boring fighter in MMA. Even if every performance from here on out is boring he still has had a lot of electric moments. Someone like Antonio McKee holds the mantle of the most "boring MMA fighter ever".

I do put blame on other fighters but it's just absurd. Consider the Yoel fight, how does the round end and he's landed 4 leg kicks, and attempted 4 lol. Woodley was never even half the star that Izzy is but he's received tons of criticism for his lackluster and uneventful performances so why should Izzy get spared ?
The guy is advertised as the most electric, flashy and entertaining must watch fighter on the planet right now but he refuses to have ONE exchange in the pocket for 100+ minutes of fighting?

That's not fighting bro.

You can blame Max for Volk being champ. Maybe if he hit harder than a school girl and didn't need 500+ strikes to hurt someone Volk woudn't be champ.

Volk is different. he fought back from a potential loss in his last fight. he absolutely went for it against Max in their last fight and got the win because of it.

I agree on that besides Vettori and Rob. Izzy is great at avoiding the fight and doing just enough to edge the score cards, but if he isn't landing a massive counter that drops someone he is landing leg kicks only. In both the Vettori and Rob fights, they had the majority of the moments that were closest to finishing the fight. Izzy obviously had the first with Rob where he dropped him, but besides that he landed not much of consequence. It's a weird situation because he won the fight, but it easily could go the other way on the same night.

I genuinely think without the belt Izzy would have lost that fight, just like Rob got the nod over Yoel. Izzy acts like he is winning the fight by pure domination, but he is just shutting down his opponents. It's impressive, but he won't leave the legacy he wants and eventually it will go the other way. He started to open up in the Jan fight and it led to him getting taken down. I think we will continue to see cautious Izzy sadly. I think it's fair to say that Costa isn't elite to be honest. He will start losing from here on out.

I think Rob gets his way back there by beating Vettori and someone like Brunson. A little bit more forward pressure and the same game plan and he wins that fight. It's a weird case of me thinking the better all round fighter is actually losing.

I like Volk. Maybe if you looked at more than one post in the thread, you would've seen that. You gotta work harder on your troll game.

If you have the physical tools Izzy has, you should be dragging the opponents into more counter opportunities. You can come in with the counter mindset and approach, but once you see they are not forcing engagements, you have to open up yourself.

It's not to say he won't keep winning this way. But his legacy will never be in the conversation with even Usman with these performances, let alone Jones, Anderson, GSP, Francis, Khabib, etc.

I really would like to see him against Rockhold. He effectively lost to the same 2 guys that knocked Rockhold out.

I thought that was a clear 48-47 Izzy, possibly 49-46 despite wanting Bobby to win. Izzy holding the belt had nothing to do with him getting that decision in my opinion. He deserved that decision.

It's because people have figured out that Adesanya isn't as effective if he is the one having to move forward.
Now they need to workout how to fit better offense into that strategy.

Obviously Jan had success, as did Rob, but I'm wondering who at Middleweight will be able to capitalize on this more effectively .

He did fight this weekend. It was a fight. Maybe you missed it? Not sure. If Bobby won, you wouldn't be complaining right now, I'm sure.

If you're bothered by how someone is marketed I don't know what to tell you. The UFC's job is sell it's fighters. You've been watching this sport long enough to know better. That's on you, lol.
