If they cut either of these guys they will be signed by Bellator.

Bellator loves signing older UFC former champs.

They’ll make more money and lambast the UFC and their pay structure and competition outside of the UFC continues to grow .

If they stay and let them fight they’ll keep getting KO’d and take more and more horrific damage.

It’s Lose Lose

It's pretty obvious that the UFC plans to use whatever is left of their names to prop up up and coming prospects and then release them at the end of their contracts...

They might even try to shoe in Rockhold in titleshot by putting against Costa and letting him skip the line if he wins but their ultimate goal is to cash in o their names to build talent

It isn't a Lose-lose.... Its business as usual

They’ll make more money, my ass. They’ll tell untruths to shove the fact they were fired under the rug. What does the premiere org on the planet need with higher pay guys that can’t draw flies? Are people really specifically tuning into the minor leagues to watch washed up UFC fighters? I’m certainly not.

OMG.. Romero, Anderson, Bader is fighting in Bellator tonight. That is must watch TV, and I’m cancelling all my plans to watch that??

I don’t think it’s the crisis you apparently do.

Outside of Yoel, who did they sign on losing streak recently?

UFC signed more Bellator rejects than Bellator signed UFC rejects

Chidi, Volkov, Jacoby, Buckley, Ramos to name a few lmao

well honestly... considering the rest of of horse shit on TV (READ:UnFunny sitcoms, scripted reality bums & The joke that's the Olympics) yeah I am watching washed up UFC fighters on Bellator

I don't see how it's a loss situation for the UFC if Weidman or Rockhold keep getting KOed.

It's bad for them, for their health. For the UFC is business as usual.

Weidman gives me more "company man" vibes. I could see him doing some commentary or whatever else Dana asked him to do. Either way, both fighters are washed and should probably retire soon.

The massive majority of TV watchers love their sitcoms, and reality TV. And again the massive majority of sports fans are actually watching the premiere leagues of one or more specific sports. Unless you have some kind of personal reason to watch second tier or minor league sports. People just aren’t watching.

If you need even a little proof of that check the number of pages in the pbp threads of One, Bellator, BKFC, etc as compared to the number of pages in even the worst UFC cards. This isn’t rocket science.

The one big exception might be NCAA football. But a lot of those cities don’t have major pro teams of any kind. And that love of your school/team is actually passed down through the generations.

I honestly doubt that they’ll cut Weidman, he’ll get the Chuck talk from Dana and walk into a nice analyst gig with ESPN or something. Luke, however is an extraordinary anomaly level of jackass, no doubt Rockhold will get used until he’s of no value to the UFC and then flushed like human refuse

I think Rockhold should switch to sport grappling & modeling & Chris shouldn't fight anymore either. If they want to continue fighting because they need money, they enjoy competing or w/e the reason I understand but in my opinion they should not fight in mma anymore.

UFC benefits from people saying they earn more at Bellator. It counters the claim that they have a monopoly. They can always say go to Bellator if pay isn't high enough

Nah, Bellator seems to be moving on from that. I doubt they’d sign either one to tell you the truth.
Even if they did, I doubt the UFC would give a shit. Both are well past their best.

i watched bader ragdoll machida.

I wouldn’t have watched it not for the name value of former ufc champs.

They get some eyes that way.

Romero was also loosing controversial decisions to the best fighters in the world.

Weidman has lost 6 of his last 8, five of those being brutal knockouts. I have a doubt Weidman will get cleared by a major commission, in his own words he's now had a total of 25 surgeries over his career. Seems unlikely Bellator is hot on this one.

Rockhold I could see getting signed.

Despite the damage Chris has taken, dude is not gonna quit. Fighting is all he knows and taking that lifestyle away from him will make him a fish out of water. That's why you see most of these old retiring and coming back. There's other ways to make money like coaching, selling merch, managing etc.

I see your point about Weidman especially with his leg break. But Rockhold has only been knocked out twice in a row and that was against prime Romero and Jan who became champ.

I think the UFC just needs to give them much easier competition and let them fight back to where they should be in the rankings, not where they think they are now.

I doubt Weidman & Rockhold keep fighting much longer, I think if they take another knockout loss they will finally get the hint & retire for good.
