Robert Whittaker’s last 3 wins:

Kelvin Gastelum- Absolute masterclass. Note that this was short notice and KG wasn’t ranked very high at the time. Entertaining fight.

Jared Cannonier- Masterclass except for getting hurt in the last round. Very good win, as Jared was a deserving title contender and ranked very high. Entertaining fight.

Darren Till- Decent win. Robert got hurt early but otherwise won a careful decision. Not a great fight but then again, when was the last time Till had an entertaining fight.

Israel Adesanya’s last 3 wins:

Marvin Vettori- Israel basically outclassed Marvin but showed some weakness in prolonged wrestling exchanges. Not a great fight.

Paulo Costa- Absolute masterclass. Costa had a lot of hype but not too much technical skill. Entertaining fight.

Yoel Romero- Horrible win. Could argue for either fighter winning this fight, and that’s not something to be proud of. Probably the worst fight of the year.

Who had the better wins??

I found Whittaker's fights more entertaining. Not to mention how he dealt with Romero, taking him head on.

That said, he makes a lot of the same mistakes he did in the first fight with Izzy, so hard to visualize him winning the rematch.

Izzy has the worse loss in his last 3 fights. I know that much. Jan made him look like a journeyman in there. And with another 30 seconds would have got the finish.

If Whittaker can use, and implement Jan’s blueprint. Then he has a real chance of winning the fight. It’s clear his last gameplan didn’t work. But there has been a cpl of years to work on shit, and film of somebody actually beating Izzy. The mythical beast has already been slain.

Izzy. His win over Paulo was a goat performance and his win over Vetorri was equal to Robs best win over Cannonier.

Izzy was better for sure, My opinion. Personally watching it live I thought till beat Whittaker.

but whittakers win against gastelumn was great, Most soundly kelvin has ever lost a 5 rounder

Good analysis; but the fights for the champ should always be more difficult since everyone else in the division is always (in part) preparing to fight him/her; so the champ should always be the best scouted fighter.

Really? Most of the fight was pretty close in the stand-up. Yes Izzy looked bad on the ground towards the end, but it took the bigger Jan like 3 rounds to get the fight there. Not sure if Robert can even survive till then.

Jan won the stand up portion of the fight. That is hardly a good look for the supposed “Best striker in UFC history”. That is literally how many people in here and in the media have portrayed Izzy.

I’m sorry if he is your hero (especially if that clown is your hero). But he got schooled in the entire fight. I don’t like to bring up official scorecards or media cards. But I’m pretty sure if you saw the fight. There should be no doubt about who won that fight.

Izzy's win over Costa was flawless, but that'll happen when only one guy is fighting.

I don't like Adesanya at all but I'm pretty sure most people agree the stand up was very close. And he was fighting the champ from a higher weight class who also happened to be a striker. Jan has a lot of range and weight over Bob which made a huge difference.

The whole lead up to the fight was how Izzy was “a far superior stand up striker” compared to “slow old and plodding” Jan.

Jan flat out won every facet of that fight.

I don't care about the exaggerated UFC build up. You said Jan made Izzy look like a journeyman and that's just not true.

Insert edgy gif.

Rob is on a fantastic win streak but I felt like he got his jab going in all of these fights. Izzy stayed out of range and made rob look like he had 2 inch arms. Not to mention rob's headkicks in fights like jared/yoel were not effective at all vs izzy. I think he wiffed on 2/3 of them in that fight

Well except for the fact I saw it with my own eyes. I’m sorry if the supposed “best striker in UFC history” got schooled by “old slow Jan”. If you really are all that. How do you lose the stand up to Jan.

Yes in that CONTEXT, Jan made Izzy look like a scrub.

Let it go, it’s only sports.
