Viacheslav Borshchev gets an exponential jump up in competition as he goes from the likes of Chris Duncan (7-0) on DWCS & Dakota Bush (8-3, 0-1 UFC) on his UFC debut, to Marc 'Bonecrusher' Diakiese (14-5, 5-5 UFC) in his sophomore outing.

That's a pretty crazy jump forward in my opinion, Diakiese has never been TKO'd, has only been finished twice in his career, and has multiple wars under his belt.

Feels like a bit of a rush job to me, with Viacheslav obviously a great kickboxer (Dana has a boner for kickboxers) and a potential break-out star for DWCS (again, that would suit Dana), but man... Diakiese already?

Marc has lost back-to-back to Rafael Fiziev (decision) and Rafael Alves (submission), and Viacheslav has looked a killer at a far lower level.

Who do you have? Does Borshchev surge, or does Diakiese knock him back?

Marc is a pretty good fighter, but Borshchev has looked like a mini tank (not Abbott lol).

I guess it's sink or swim time for Borshchev in this one.

Like you said though, it does seem like a giant leap in competition so I guess we'll have to see how it plays out (pun intended).

Borshchev is a better striker. If Siamese wins it will be by wrestling.
That’s what I think. Diakiese isn’t an easy guy to knockout and Borsch doesn’t seem very well rounded. Excited to see though, if he gets a bit of grappling defense he will be a problem

The thing is that he's there to be taken down, but is surprisingly good at scrambling back to his feet in short order while avoiding subs/GnP. In my estimation he's only going to get better in regards to defensive wrestling by hanging out at TAM, while Diakese is more or less a known quantity at this point (not that that's entirely a bad thing). I'd almost be more worried about the fact that Dakota Bush of all people managed to wobble him on the feet briefly.

I could see Marc's experience and well-roundedness still being too much for him here, but my initial impression is that Borshchev gets it done.

Could be a toss up. Slava showed a willingness to take it to the ground if need be. And that could be a route to go if it gets too dangerous on the feet.

Diakiese either does what he did to Duffy, and grapple-fucks him to a decision, or he probably gets TKO'd. Borschev has some nasty striking but at 6-1, he's still green and his wrestling looked crap against Bush.

Another great fight booked by the UFC. Hoping Slava Claus win this and can keep his run going.
