Gane hasn't thrown any leg kicks. He could have punished Ngannou

Obvious strategy was to brutalize his legs, affect his movements and capitalize on the fact that Ngannou was wearing knee sleaves ! I was wondering why he didn't throw any, and even Cormier was surprised, only 2 min into the first round..

Now that we know Francis had torn his MCL and ACL before, it either makes Gane look bad of him look good

His team (stupidly) thought the rumors about Ngannous knee injury were a trick. He even told Gane NOT to kick the knee. Thats some low IQ coaching.
Yeah I thought that was crazy when Gane admitted at the press conference they didn't even consider attacking the knee to take advantage of it.

Not that it is how you want your fighter to win a fight, attacking an existing injury, but it's stupid not to take advantage of every opportunity.

If you don’t follow the gameplan and listen to your coach then what’s the point of having one? Now the matter seems to definitely be whether this is the best coach for Gane. Judging from that fight and the coaches performance the concensus here and in certain media seems to be no. And at this point it looks likes Gane is staying with him. So wait and see if that coach and Gane make the proper and necessary adjustments. Leaving aside the whole personality thing his coach is taking big heat for.

But apparently Gane did as he was told and followed the gameplan.

Francis has long arms,
and leg kick is an opportunity for him to land a power punch

anybody who came too close to Francis paid the price,
and these are not rookies strikers, JDS, Overeem,....

His corner was more interested in him grabbing a heel hook at all costs. might as well have had eddie bravo in the corner asking him to throw sand.
