The current state of the HW division now that Ngannou is leaving will be abysmal.

Besides Stipe and Gane, these HW’s are above average at best and one of the so called next generation up and comers just got KO’d by Derrick Lewis in short order. Wonder what it’ll be like when he actually leaves at the end of the year.

Is it confirmed Ngannou is gone or is this still pure speculation?

HW has always been weak, when guys are 300 lb its just that anyone can KO anyone else on any given day

So dramatic.

You’ll move on almost as fast as Dana, except you’ll also keep whining about it. Which I imagine to most sherdoggers is actually the most important thing.

Making this what? A win fucking win.

Where’s the link that says he’s leaving? Fucking clickbait BS thread title.

Obviously if he leaves it'll be a big blow to the division. However if Jones and Stipe come back and take fights at HW... the division won't be that horrible. You'd have:

Stipe Miocic- UFC HW division GOAT
Jon Jones- One of the all-time GOAT's
Cyril Gane- Not the greatest performance vs Francis, but he is still tremendously talented and young/inexperienced. It stands to reason that he'll continue to improve and be a top HW for years to come
Derrick Lewis- Most KO's in UFC history. 17-6 in the UFC with 13 KO's. The guy has wins over Ngannou, Blaydes, Volkov, Travis Browne, Roy Nelson, Gabriel Gonzaga. He's an elite HW and has been for awhile
Curtis Blaydes- Best wrestler in the division. 11-3 in the UFC. Wins over Overeem, JDS, Hunt, Volkov. Still only 30 years old and will be a tough out for anyone in the division for the next several years and definitely has champ potential
Alexander Volkov- Great striker and still in his prime. Very solid gatekeeper for the Top 5
Jairzinho Rozenstruik- Similar to above. Also has the big KO power
Tom Aspinall- Tremendous HW prospect with all around skills and killer instinct. Undefeated in the UFC, never gone to a decision in his career, still only 28 years old. Has champ potential
Tai Tuivasa- One of the funnest fighters in the game, and just a tank with huge KO power. Still improving and on a 4 fight win streak now. He'll give anyone a tough fight
Chris Daukaus- Sure he lost to Lewis, but so have most people who fought him. Still a rising fighter with huge KO power and will be fun to watch over the next few years

That's a pretty good, fun group of 10 fighters that I'm down to watch on any given night. It's certainly one of the weaker divisions in the UFC, but there's still plenty to enjoy there, especially if Jon enters the mix.

The future of HW MMA is dead in the water I'm afraid, now I can only speak of USA, not other countries, but here its totally dead. I was recently at some MMA gyms to deliver some mats and there are zero HW's, its like looking for a needle in a haystack, everyone is 110-195 Ibs, and there is the odd 1 or 2 guys that are like 210 Ibs and thats it, and the rest are women.

The only big guys you will ever see in them are just guys from Tonga and Samoa and Fiji and Maori NZ who stop and train for a few weeks, they are all like 250 - 450 Ibs.. but they only stop for couple of weeks.. no HW's full time in MMA gyms in 2022. Thats the reality

I used to be very involved with King of the Cage back in 2004-2010 time period and know a lot of the guys who book there and there are zero HW's these days, just by the law of averages there are a few but its more a law of averages, there are virtually none

They could just strip Ngannou and release him, both parties move on.

They can always re-sign him later.
