Did you ever imagine that the most “powerful puncher” in Francis would use the same strategy like St

Stipe did against him in their first fight? How disappointed were you to see this fight turn into a lay and pray instead of a slug fest for the ages, regardless of who won?

He couldn't really close ground quickly on a bum knee against a guy who moves as well as Gane. It was a smart adjustment by him and his team. This is MMA. If something isn't working you use your other tools. Only thing I wish was more GnP but when you aren't an experienced wrestler it's hard enough just to control your opponent rather than focus on ground strikes.

Do you not understand the concept of MMA? If im a Kickboxer going up against a strong Boxer im gonna kick. If im a Boxer going up a strong Kicker im gonna punch. If im an MMA fighter going up against a superior Striker im gonna grapple.

I foreseen it based on their rematch, he looked powerful during the wrestling exchanges so ik at that moment it's probably not gonna be good for ciryl despite the masses believing in the hype because of his fancy footwork and unbelievable cardio.

Francis saying knockout within 2 rounds also confirmed my suspicion it would probably go to a decision because both are training partners and respect each others skillsets.

There were definitely reports about his knee injury before the fight. And then he shows up wearing two knee sleeves which he has never before. I didn't know how severe it was until later but I assumed he was going to be limited movement wise.

I was incredibly relieved to find out none of the friends I tried to convince to watch this event wasted their time.

Not at all. Well maybe a tad more active from the top but enjoyed him shutting Gane down.

Was an interesting surprise...

Couldn't you have put this in one of the many many threads on the subject? I'm not the forum po po so take that advice for what it is worth, very little! Am I disappointed Francis used his superior ground game to win? No, this is MMA. Not a great fight to watch but totally understand why it went like that and Frank deserves credit for adapting getting the W.

I said regardless who won and not a biased opinion dude, wtf? Everyone thought it was going to be a slugfest

I don't think he had any choice, knee or no knee. Gane moves better.

I'm more disappointed in Gane not going for broke, since he's a pretty big dude himself. No real headkicks, a couple of flashy ones but no real Crocop level "fuck you die" kicks.

I think they can fight 10 more times, and each time the difference would be wether or not Gane decides to put at least some aggression in his attacks.

I hadn't been expecting a slugfest since I thought it was most likely it would be an uneventful standoff between a guy keeping his distance against a guy who's best at counterpunching. In the back of my mind, more as a joke really, was the tickle of an idea that it might come out as it did—since I had no trust in Gane's wrestling and Francis had been forced to work on it because of Stipe.

So I wasn't disappointed at all. At least it was kinda amusing.

Francis is a big strong guy. If he can become the Usman of the hw and hold people down/defend wrestlers he will be a force to be reckoned with.
Francis did say Cyril will find his improvement in grappling the most surprising.
The fight didn't help sell Francis as a boxer but it's always good to see fighters evolve. In a rematch I would be curious if Francis wrestles from the start and doesn't even bother to throw a punch.

Yes, Prior to the fight I found out Francis has the take down force of a Ford Fiesta driving 45mph in a 25 while drinking a latte.
