In one of the pre-fight press conferences, he mentioned how his experience on dealing with wrestlers was one of his main advantages over Cyril.

I think we’ve been underrating Francis’ grappling for a while now. You don’t stop TDs from Stipe Miocic and Curtis Blaydes and KO both while being a shitty wrestler. Gane has been facing strikers and it is pretty crazy to think he was considered a better grappler than Francis based on a couple of submission wins over weak competition.

If they fought next week, I’d give a guy like Blaydes the edge to defeat Gane.

Gane was the latest product of the ufc overhype machine...they are already calling him the most technical mma fighter of all time...but to be a goat candidate you need to be a well rounded mmartist.

I actually would love to see Francis utilize his wrestling more going forward. His opponents are so dead set focused on his power that his wrestling can catch them by surprise big time. If he can add a TD threat that would open up his haymakers to a scary level.

Im ngannou reply to your thread until you tell me what you're trying to gane from it?

Blaydes is an overrated MMA wrestler. In his fight with Lewis, before he was ever KOd, Bisping was commentating on how he and Rashad were discussing Blaydes' sloppy takedown entries. And hinted at how he could get caught on the way in. Then Blaydes got KOd on a sloppy, telegraphed TD attempt.

His wrestling is only highly regarded because he is the only halfway decent HW offensive wrestler these days.

Stipe is a better wrestler IMO (atleast was, he's really small for HW now so I dunno).

This, the high level wrestlers are absent from the HW division.

Might be, most of the fights Lewis landed on his back

Remember last time Blaydes faced a sloppy striker?

Those last 2 gifs are of the same fight?
And what does sloppy striking have to do with anything? Derrick and Francis can defend take downs. Cyrill take down defense is garbage.
A technical striker in Volkov got taken down 14 times by Blaydes. Unlike Gane, Volkov has a great defensive ground game as shown in his fight with Werdum
