Hey friends,

Just have one more for you this week. Talked to Calvin Kattar a few days after UFC Vegas 46. Had some statements to make about Giga's post-fight claims that Chikadze would win "9 out of 10 times."

Key quotes (more in the written feature):

Kattar on Chikadze:
"That's the wrong mindset to come out of that type of fight with," Kattar told CBS Sports. "Pretty sure Max had put me in similar situations last year and that was the last thing on my mind. That sounds more ego-driven and for me, I was just focused on getting back to work. Can't control the last one, whatever about the last one. Shit happens."

Giga had his momentum stopped, the best thing is to immediately get back in and try to erase the last fight from everyones mind. It's always a gamble but it definitely pays off if you win.

Fantastic job, Shermano.
I agree, that's more like Gigachad's ego talking. Don't see how he makes the necessary improvement off of it

A bit old (article) but I agree with Kattar...

Learn, move on and take that shit out on the next guy.

yeah but it has an absolutely awful effect if you lose, it's a double or nothing bet. and this isn't money on the line, it's your entire career.

Great job with the interview. Clearly you were prepared and well researched, you let Kattar talk and he seems like a smart fighter, very grounded, humble, great attitude.

Subscribed. Keep up the good work.

Giga's ego is his biggest enemy right now. He came into MMA after a semi-successful run in kickboxing, had some moderate success in MMA, and all of a sudden thinks he's an elite MMA fighter. He's not.

He needs to take a year off, focus on the holes in his game, and learn from this experience.

Saying he would have beaten Kattar 9/10 times is laughable and wrong. He needs to a bit more humble and train with others who can elevate his ability...especially his ground game.

When Giga says, he wins 9 times out of 10 and that night just wasn't his night, it implies there's nothing wrong and there's no real need for improvement.

One of the first steps to improving is admitting there are deficits that need to be addressed, or at the very least, there is work to be done.

Nice job in the interview, Calvin comes off as a super likable guy... I agree with that mindset, take it on the chin and own it, move forward.

Make that one more subscriber. Totally appreciate your interview style.

He forgot to add under the right circumstances.

Different ppl are spurred on by different things. Some ppl work harder via honesty and fessing up and others need delusion to push them. We're not all the same?

Guess we'll just have to wait and see how self-delusion works for Giga Chik

That fight was really confusing to me. Giga was dealing with the grappling in the first round really well, after doing well in the stand up. Then he was dead, but was able to fight dead for four more rounds while taking all the damage he took in the fight. How can you be so dead and be able to deal damage and take as much damage as he did. My mind can't reconcile it.

Yup. Wouldn't work for me, but for guys like Conor and others, I think it helps them. As Benoit recently pointed out, you might have to be a little crazy to fight in a cage for a living.
