Media Holloway v Kattar, Greatest performance in UFC history?

I'd say the greatest performance of 2021. All time might be stretching it. But man Max put on a clinic in that one.

The striking numbers from that fight for Max were crazy. Just a landslide of a beatdown.

Depends on what you're looking for. I rank Whittaker/Jacare higher.

Penn/Sanchez had a similar type of feel to Holloway/Kattar, only Penn stuffed like 23 takedowns to 0 and ended the fight in the fifth round.

Amazing performance but a little more stopping power wouldn’t hurt either. Max doesn’t get paid by the amount of strikes he lands nor rounds he has to answer the bell.

That said war Max.

It was a fantastic performance, but far from perfect. Even though he landed an ungodly amount on Kattar, he still took over 100 significant strikes.

When I think of best performances, I think of almost flawless ones like:
Silva vs. Griffin
Conor vs. Eddie
Gsp vs. Fitch
Etc.

Flawless victory would be Anderson vs Leben

It was Max's best performance, imo, and maybe the best performance of last year. All-time depends on level of opponent, who you beat and how decisively. Like Penn moving up and owning then champ Hughes in the 1st round. Fedor beating the piss out of then champ Nog in a very one-sided fight to become the #1 HW.

Kattar is a top 5 fighter, but not on that level.

Hard for me to hype it as such as I believe the fight should have been stopped, and at some point Calvin was just a moving punching bag
Thats how I felt about Gaethje/Chandler which I think won fight of the year. Holloway/Yair was a much better fight.

No, but it was among the all time great performances.

On top of some of the others mentioned I'd add Randy over Tim Sylvia. Randy came out of retirement and out struck the world champion by 100 strikes overall and out landed him 3 to 1 in significant strikes. Toss in 7 takedowns and 16 minutes of control time in a 25 minute fight and you have one of the all time great one sided beatings of a champion.

Flawless doesn’t mean constantly taking gigantic shots in return and not caring. His chin helped get him through that fight, but it wouldn’t be flawless if it was any other fighter with a normal chin.
