Do You Find It Ironic That Dominick Cruz Has Been Injured So Much...

I think it's for him to be harder to be hit clean by his opponent.
There's few speculation behind his injuries, he does like to do stuff out of the norm if you've watch his JRE or embedded episodes he goes in dept about it.

The guy trains like a mad man and is very dedicated to getting properly prepared for a fight, which lead to some injuries which slowed down his career.

Thank you. I was hoping for at least one non-adolescent answer.

You can train for performance or you can train for health. Choosing performance comes with a lot of strains and risks of injury to maximize your chance of winning. Cruz's body broke / couldn't keep up with his training. His style looks like it takes quite a toll physically while requiring quite a lot of cardio to be able to pull it off.

The way he moves to avoid strikes is terrible on the knees, ankles, and lower back.

The joints were not meant to take constant jarring force which is Cruz's entire defense and offense. The way he circles and shifts side to side is brutal on the joints.

He trains to be 100% ready for his fights which means he's doing this shit at 110% for 12 weeks. It's no wonder he's constantly injured

Let's remember it's 2 blown knees, a botched surgery and a blown quad. All of which come from his Jerky ass style.

....considering that his style of fighting was created in part to avoid getting hit?
Not surprising based on his style. His injuries tend to be knee/leg injuries which happen from all the movement and quick direction changes he does. Still better than taking punishment to the head and dealing with CTE for the rest of your life.

His injuries were unfortunate. I think had he stayed healthy he would be in the GOAT conversation.

He always had a lot of lateral movement by way of his legs.
A.Silva was always illusive but usually moves more from the hips.
ACL injuries don't take much lateral movement in order to tear the ligament.
I do find it ironic though TS

Dom's injuries were almost all joint/limb injuries (shoulder, ankles, broken arm, plantar fasciitis), so they were never a result of getting hit. More a result of training hard and moving in awkward ways. And some people's joints just genetically are more prone to injuries than others.

when people pull muscles taking a shit it isn't altogether surprising a guy bouncing around like he's doing Capoeira causes injury too.
