Seems like Francis is bypassing Gane already, he is already calling out HW boxing goats of our era out, bad idea, he should focus on his current opponent, because if he fail im not sure he will be able to hype the fights against fury or wilder as much as he wants after.

Yep, seems very distracted right and not focused on his upcoming fight.

I hope gane will beat him, and then francis will be left with no bargaining power with the ufc for reneging his contract or any appeal to boxing orgs. That would be funny.

There won't really be any problem in hyping the fight, as indicated by everyone calling him out. In their eyes, it's an easy payday over a UFC champion. For Francis it's a huge payday and the chance to make a mark in boxing. They'll make it happen and I'm sure it will do well.

People also forget Jake Paul fought Ben Askren and it did extremely good PPV numbers. The typical person buying this stuff generally has no idea what's going on.

No he is not distracted. And he did not call out anyone, but when Tyson Fury calls you out on Twitter, you would be a complete moron not to answer. That's literally free advertising.
It brings attention, so it sells the fight in 2 weeks.

And Ngannou kind of fucked it up by asking for an mma fight. That’s akin to admitting he knows he’ll lose a boxing match even with small gloves. You think serious boxing fans are going to buy a UFC PPV to watch Ngannou in a cpl of weeks in a UFC fight? I have a hard time believing that.

Yeah Ngannou’s reign has been full of distractions for him so far.

First the talk of the Jon Jones Fight.
Then the drama with Gane vs Lewis for the interim title.
Then the drama with his coach and the infamous hallway video.
And now the boxing call-outs.

I really hope he doesn’t lose focus of Gane, this has potential to be one of the biggest HW title fights in a long time and it would suck if he doesn’t take it 100%.

Not really. If the focus is on the best HW boxer in the world, that only benefits his training and mindset. If his target is someone even better than Gane, then no it's not overlooking Gane per se. Means his mind and training is going after the best and his training should align with that.

Yes, Conor degraded aswell after that. And Francis isn't nearly as skilled as Conor. As much as people like to shit on Conor.

For career longevity he should probably focus on Gane. But a fight vs Fury would probably earn him more in 1 night than he would make in the rest of his career in the UFC. So......
He always wanted to be a boxer. So for his career goals, boxing is part of that. To me he is using mma to get into boxing. It was a way for him to break into boxing quicker compared to starting off as just a boxer. Him being an mma/UFC champion makes it easier to cross over with hype. Even mma fighters crossing over becomes easier now instead of going through the amateur ranks in boxing. The boxing vs mma fights benefit mma fighters that think they can box with the pro boxers. It allows easier career transitions and crossover fights. Of course the skills would need to be there to actually make a career out of it though. Unless people are only after Jake Paul fights and not really after the best in boxing. But with Ngannou, he's calling out the best in boxing.

Yeah because Conor focusing on Pacquiao and boxing did wonders for his career.

Overlooking opponents is dumb.

Yeah it reminds me of the first Stipe fight when everyone thought he went to France before the fight because he thought he couldn't lose, then he got embarrassed.

That was more due to his lack of training and evolution, his boxing wasn't even ready for Poirer, no way it would be ready for PAC. Conor just wasn't training and evolving. He was stagnant for years and seems to just be lifting weights. That's really why he lost and why he is still losing. He also doesn't seem to be doing anything different at all, so I don't expect much to change with his fighting style and outcomes of his fights if everything stays the same for his training.

If Poirer outboxed him, PAC would've done worse to him. He wasn't ready for any of them, so it's not the overlooking that was the issue. It was his training and skill set.

Yep he's far too concerned with what would be a one and done event. After he gets ktfo inside 4 rounds in his boxing debut no boxing promoter will offer him anywhere near the money he's thinks he's worth for any future fights.

This. Never underestimate the buying capabilities of kids and young adults with Mom or Dads credit card.

If the muay thai kickboxer kickboxes Ngannou to victory, Ngannou won't have any appeal to boxing orgs?

Dude, if he wins he'll have to stay for yet another fight. It's best for him to lose and go enjoy boxing. If he fights Fury he'll lose but get more money than he's ever seen. If he wants a real boxing career it's not too late to have one even though he still won't ever beat someone like AJ or Fury.
