So say Khabib and Bisping.

Leon sitting here like ;)

But, wait, you must also consider the fighters ranking agree Bisping and Alvarez.

Leon sitting here like ;)

And then they start discussing wins over competitors.

Leon sitting looking at Luque like ;)

Next title shot is rarely black and white. There is often an element of subjectivity.

But those acting like Leon doesn't have a claim (never mind the fact he has the strongest claim) look incredibly daft and bitter

He should be fighting for the title next 100%>>>

To think otherwise given the current WW landscape is just hot garbage...more WWE like thinking and WME management input wrecking shit

Leon is the Number 1 contender...and rightfully so

I dont even know why people think hes boring LOL the dude is a tactician in there and a great counter wrestler/striker ..patient.. accurate...good movement ...he should be a striking fans dream really...hes very technically sound...

Sure he might not over commit to huge power shots but that also leaves him less likely to get grappled fuck...so it works for him..and he can do damage especially with his elbows..

Leon should be next and have the other contenders fight each other for the next shot...and let khamzat fight someone outside the top 5 but under rank 10

The biggest problem I have is that there has never been a clearer example of hypocrisy in the people evaluating his run. People will always jump back and forth between "this big win didn't age well cuz the guy kept losing" and "sure, this guy keeps winning, but fighter didn't beat him when he was good" when cutting down people's wins, but they have to do both at the same time with Leon.

Apparently, beating #3 RDA doesn't matter cuz RDA lost a bunch of momentum since and beating Luque who got enough momentum since to become #4 doesn't matter cuz he wasn't ranked at the time?

And that's only one of the many loops people will jump through just to say the guy they don't like shouldn't get a title shot. There's more excuses people will give, but the reason really just is, they don't like him.

On top of that, the “didn’t age well” theory is inherently going apply to somebody who needs double digit victories to get a shot. Most people who’s wins wouldn’t have aged well would have gotten their shot before those wins had a chance to depreciate. I think some people don’t understand how long it’s been since this guy lost a fight.

At the end of the day, do you want MMA to be a legitimate sport or a glorified soap opera

Another great post with solid arguments

Strangely, Carla's streak of wins has either stayed mostly the same or gotten much better.
Unranked Jandiroba - now #13
#9 Grasso - now #11 up at fly
#8 Waterson - now #9
#9 Rodriguez - now #3
#3 Xiaonan - now #4

She’s the obvious choice for the next shot but we will see. I honestly think she has a good shot at beating Rose again.

The thing for those terrified of him getting his long overdue shot; don’t worry, there is very little chance he beats Usman. Usman can strike too, and if Leon is getting the better of him on the feet, Marty will just turn it into a grappling contest and win there,

So the chances of Leon winning the belt and having title a run are incredibly small (as they are for nearly all WWs at the moment).

But that’s not really the point. Usman needs a next title challenger and there is one stand out claim in the division.

Same, but hell, even if she doesn't have a chance and will get her ass kicked, she still earned the right to get her ass kicked for the title. I can never understand the people who are like "Well they can't win so.." Ok? So people don't get rewarded for success? Winning should be a secondary goal for everyone behind making you happy watching something you don't fully appreciate?

If there's anyone with the KO power to stop Usman dead in his tracks at WW, I'd guess it's Khaos Williams. Doesn't mean ya make the fight though, just cuz you think he can win. The fuck is the point of fighting if they're not trying to win, and win towards the title? It's just a bunch of utter horseshit

1 top 10 win and 1 top 5 win usually gets you a title shot, even if you lost the previous fight. The "win streak" is a throwback to Royce days or even Fitch days, as Fitch went something like 8-0 in the UFC, but in those 8 only a few mattered. Point is, the win streak without beating contenders matters little. Beating the best does.

His stock plummeted when Diaz rocked him. Theoretically it was supposed to be a coming out party against a household name, but Dana and fanboys were able to drive the narrative that Diaz won the “fight” and people remember Leon on ice skates.

And to your point, I absolutely agree. Leon ain’t beating Usman but he deserves his shot. I think more people would clamor for Leon if it wasn’t for Khamzat. Whether he deserves the shot or not (he obviously doesn’t), we all wanna see that shit. haha

Interesting and probably unusual trend

Im in the legitimate sport camp since i started watching MMA back in pre TUF 1 daystenor (12).gif

Fighting is so dramatic as is...it doesnt need manufacturing...the fight itself is the show and the story

Sport over highschool popularity contest anyday!!
