A Muay Thai champ who transitioned to kickboxing to become champ, and will now transition to MMA much like his foe Alex Pereira.

Simon also holds a win over Adesanya in Muay Thai.

His clinch game, knees, and elbows are his specialty. Body made of stone. The MW division is slowly becoming striker’s heaven.

Isnt Simon around 35 years of age? So who cares, too late to do much besides pull a Saki....Also he's maybe too big for 170 and too small for 185.

While it's exciting to see these kickboxers/Thai fighters transitioning to MMA, I wish many of them did it sooner. Simon Marcus is one that definitely waited too long...

Why are so many kickboxing guys transitioning into MMA??!!

Because of Izzy?

Put yourself in there shoes

imagine beating Adensanya in kickboxing, then seeing him run off to UFC become extremely successful, a champion, more famous than they are and more rich.

Him posting those videos of his Mclaren must be eating away at them lol

Makes sense for them to want to try mma too

Its not like mma just arrived. Those guys couldve fought mma too but they didnt for whatever reason. Plus, being good in 1 sport doesn’t always make you good at another. There are more “greats” who fail at mma than the ones that make it.

Out of like 20 K-1 fighters, only cro cop was able to do good in mma.

Same with the 1000s of collegiate wrestlers, only a handful ever get UFC gold or pride gold.

thats with every sport. Even the bjj masters go into mma and get beat down (sometimes even submitted)

true but you can argue that wrestlers transition the best, then probably kickboxers and lastly jujitsu guys who struggle the most to move to mma.

Its kind of changing now though and you are seeing strikers figure out the grappling alot faster than they used to. Guessing there is more good mma coaching available. I am expecting a ton more kickboxers and even boxers transition to mma in future as UFC keeps rising in popularity

I think strikers are more use to getting hit and transition better because everyone tries to strike now.

Jason Wilnis who also has a win over Izzy in kickboxing had his first MMA fight recently too.

With these two and Doumbe things are getting interesting.
I didn't know about Wilnis. That dude is kinda scary. Marcus has a questionable chin. Doumbe is the one of the 3 that excites me the most just based on personality and fighting style.
